Please Clarrify Re: Album Art

CHANGED POST

Originally, I wrote about my seemingly unending attempts to figure out album art... which I eventually did. It is in a later posts that I made after a couple of people responded. Just wanted to note here that I found that a simple renaming of jpg file worked for example: Life Goes On.jpg or I did not need to add artists' names and some titles with special characters did show up. I have two with [ brackets] and a couple with commas in them. Titles with apostrophes, periods, and colons did not show album art. I am sure this can be fixed by excluding them in the album titel. I hope this helps someone.

Ok, What I have figured out after over 2 hours of messing with this thing

1. I have two sets of album art in all my folders that were put then when I copied files from Windows MP.
Some files say "cover". Some say nothing or "Album". I had been just changing the names of those files and nothing happened.

2. I noticed that when I used Superman, the one piece of cover art that did show, equal dimensions. 100 X 100 and all of the options for files size also had eaqual dimensions. Problem, most of the photos that were already in my files had dimensions like 75 X 74. When I changed the name of the file nothing happened.

3. Found a cd that had two pics with 75 x75 and 200 x 200. Changed the name of the latter, but nothing happened until I took the CD out of the folder where I had all of the artist's CDs. Once I did that, the pic showed up.

4. Observations..... If this is the only way to have CD cover art, I think this is way too messy... having all of these folders all over the place. Is this the only way?

Also, most of the pics in the folders do not have equal dimension, and I am having a hard time changing them. I have one small program that allowed me to change them, but when I did, and saved it... the file size became 0.

I think your problem is that you have folder structure like
F:\MUSIC\Artist\Album\Album.jpg

but the MiniPlayer has a bug:
if the folder containing the album has the same name as the album itself, it doesn't show the album-art

change your structure to something like this:
F:\MUSIC\Artist\Artist-Album\Album.jpg

Some progress... and at this point I am writing this for those of you who are new like me and might be having some trouble with adding album art as well.

It helps that all of CDs that I copied from my comp already had album art with them from Windows Media Player.
I finally found a small program that resized jpg files. It works like the Batman program. You just have to change the value in the application name to get the size you want. The application name is originally something like "photoresize400.exe." I changed it to "photoresize200x200.exe" and put some photos on the icon and it changed to the correct size. http://www.rw-designer.com/picture-resize. The resizing is important, the pics will not display if the height and width do not have the same value.

Figured out my folder problem. I would have a Prince folder and in that folder I would have each of his CDs in its respective folder. Ex. 1 Folder for Purple Rain, 1 for Musicology etc. When I put the album art in the respective folders, it would not show up. I had to take each CD out of its respective folder and just put them in the one main folder: Prince. So now it reads as folder name Prince, then in there are all the songs I have by him. I thought that by doing this, the player would read 5 CDs as just one, but it automatically seperated the CDs by title on the player. I also put the new resized pics in the Prince folder, with the new names Purple Rain.jpg, Musicology.jpg.

Voila, .. I got album art! GRRRRRRRRRRRR it only took about 7 hours~

Superman did not work for me since it did not pick up most of my pics. Since all of my album art was already transferred from W. Media Player, it was easier to just rename the files, once I figured out how to resize them and put them in the correct folders.

Mediamonkey was a disaster for me. I do not know what I did, but I am now missing some music files and when I went to burn the CDs again, I found that my comp is now no longer recognizing either my CD Burner or my DVD Burner.

At this point, I cannot take on this problem. I am too exhausted from the album art trials.

In any event, I hope this helps someone(s).
