M6 Back Cover is rotting and Shelling!

now I have more than one year with M6 by Dane-elec, the only one reason I had to want a M6 was the sound it has(I'm still loving it).

But there's only one thing, I have to Complain: The Back Cover of the Player.

!The bad kind of the material of the back steel cover is becoming a mess!.

The back cover it's really made with cooper with a shower of a kind of steel staendless.

The back cover it's really made with copper, and with a shower of a kind of slim layer of steel Stainless, which with the time, is start to waste with touch of the hands and the clothes or other kind of surface.
I think Meizu(Chineese at Least) tried to trick us, but the only thing meizu did was to trick themself.

I don't like to use a skins or accessories like that(I'm not against about them)I think the M6 is enough elegant to hide it's beauty.

I have had Music players that goes form MD Player to Ipods and never I've had this kind of siuation.
since the first time I had the M6 in my hand I was suspecting some thing similar.
Well, I just want Meizu be more RESPONSIBLE about the Material they select to build it Products, if they want to continue in the market as one of the best Mp3 Players Manufacturers in the whole world.

I don't know but,

I thinking seriously not to buy the M6 SL just thinking about this issue.

if any one more has the same situation, just let the Forum know it.

Wilbord,

I'm sorry to hear about your problem. I've had my M6 for a few months, and the only complaints I have about mine are: 1.) back of player gets scratched, and 2.) it is hard to find covers/cases for it in the US.

As for "rotting", I've seen no indication of rust or degradation of the back surface. Have you gotten the device wet at all? I'm just at a loss as to what the problem could be.

Hope this doesn't happen to my SL that just arrived today...

Are you sure it just wasn't a lemon? saga, you could probably buy one of those screen protectors for the iPhone and cut it to the M6's dimensions.

the sl uses a different material for its back than the sp, its a brushed metal aluminium as opposed to the steel on the old player

personally, whenever i take this baby out its always in a crystal case otherwise it will get all bashed up, there are plenty available on the web and o me is an essential for any media player if you want to kep it in one nice shiny piece

I Thinking your are right about to the diference between the sp and the SL back cover material, but any way, I still thinking about to buy a new SL version the only thing I care is the Miniplayer´s Sound.

But I´ll continue trying to solve the situation.

thanks.

I was nearly beginning to make a thread about this issue too, but I was sure someone might did report it soon or later, and I was right.

Below is a picture of my M6SP from somewhere in April. (My player was 9 months old that time)
It might look very visible, but it’s not really like that in reality. My camera does unfortunately make it more visible than it is.
I have same idea what it might be, since it was impossible to remove it and that time I saw my corners of my player too. Yes that’s copper, and that’s not nice for a so nice player.
I don't if this is one the reasons why the SP is so cheap, but I have another cheaper Mp3-player with a metal backside and here it differently don’t do this even how much it is scratched so it actually doesn’t give any sense anyway.

Bad protective films were also an issue I’ve ran into and this is very annoying.
Firmware related thing is not the biggest problem for me, because there might be chance to fix them. Hardware related things and outside things, you can’t fix them. Not good

I don’t know if SL is any better, I don’t have one.
I hope really we don’t see this on M7 and either M8.

I just bought a M6 SL from China 2u, it came with a plastic case, which is good bcouse the oils on you hand will wear away the coating on the case. As far as the sound it sounds great to me.

It might be something like that.
I have never use chemicals and only a small wet cloth once on my m6 which should be fully harmless. I always take lots of care of my m6. I don’t use it for traveling and I always store it in pouch it came with and sometime I do use the silicone case.
Still I now have this everywhere on the backside.
I would call this “Meizu Pest” and it seems to begin infecting this forum.

Weird, I've scratched and dropped my M6 lots of times (the back metal thingy) and you can't see any rust at all.

I was finding out and I got the next conclusion:

What is happening with the Meizu back cover is:

It's composed of three types of materials, I mean three layer that conforms the back cover:

* The lower layer is a kind of Aluminum that is the back cover itself.

* The next Layer is composed of a shower copper that I think could be a technique to get one of the following:

- Get a Base to apply the upper layer(the shinning one), avoiding that can be remove or can be pealed off easily.

- or just get the Sleek Looks and shinning look

* And the Upper Layer is just what give it the Sleek and shinning look
as i told before.

The first two Layer(shinning steel and the Copper Layer), each of them are just a slim layer, and below of them is the thickest layer that is a kind of Aluminum(Sorry, but I understand is a bad type of Aluminum). Just when the first two layers disappear, the more resistant or the better Material(I think) will show itself.

Later I going to take some pic and will show how is my M6.

I hope this information have some value for you.

Because normally, most products that the protective film comes with are annoying, because they are really visible, like the iPod's. So I guess it's just something of habit.

And you might want to shorten down your signature a little, it's getting out of control.

I had to took it off because under the edge of the film started to rot and some eruptions appeared under it, and thats why I had to do it.

Remember, I live in a Tropical country : Dominican Republic.
