where do i start

i just got the Meizu M6 SL player, and I don't understand where or how to start. i downloaded something from the meizu website, firmware or something, but that just turned out to be a whole lot of nonsense when i opened the documents. or whatever they were meant to be, my computer just decided to open them with notepad.

so basically, it would be so great if someone could tell me where to get an English instruction manual from i.e. somewhere online, and specifically written for the M6 SL player.
(unlike the other english instruction manual on the meizu website which is for an earlier, different player).

failing that, maybe someone could tell me what kind of software i should download so that i can actually put music on to the player. so then i could use it for what it is meant for.

For all the info in English go to: http://en.meizu.com

You want to get music on your player ;P Just connect it to your PC or Mac and copy your MP3 files to the MUSIC folder on the player. As easy as that.

okay i already wrote that i tried to find something of use on the meizu english website and it was to no avail. and seriously, do you really think i'd be asking for help if my player was recognised by my PC? my PC doesn't recognise my player, and neither does my laptop. or worse, either one of them or both occasionnally recognises the player, and then they just don't anymore.

what are DFU tools? perhaps that is the software i am looking for?

Did you turn on the player before connecting it to the PC? Because if you connect it without turning it on it will only charge the battery.

As far as I know, no M6SL English manual exists yet. But apart from some minor button differences, it should be essentially the same as the M6SP manual, which you can find here.

Main interface differences in M6SL:
- To turn your player on/off use a long press in the Play button (this is now located at the bottom of the touch pad, instead of having a dedicated button).
- Enter key has been replaced by "tapping the center of the touch pad".
- For DFU keys in M6SL, see this post.
(sorry, right now I'm not sure if there are other differences)

For more information, please refer to the FAQ or use the search.

I just got my M6 SL yesterday.
In the box was a 3" CD with drivers (that I didn't need), conversion software (which I don't think I will need), and a M6 SL manual in PDF format (which I have copied to my desktop and referred to several times).
Take a look at your install CD and see if your manual is there.
I just tried to attach a copy to this post but it is over 11MB

Granted it still has that "translated by BabelFish" look to it but it has pointed me in the right direction a couple of times.

I did notice that my USB plug is tighter than I expected and once I didn't have it pushed into the M6 all the way. Actually same thing with the headphones. Give that a check.

As for copying music... I took the easy road and used Windows Media Player to rip some songs from CDs and synch them to the Meizu. I know I can drag and drop but this was easier since I had tons of music that was not yet on my PC.

I'm now tackling getting a DVD converted using iRiverter based on posts here on MeizuMe. I'm also gonna try Batman to see which I like better.

I should mention that this is my first real MP3 player so I'm kinda a novice at this too. Good luck.

XYXOXY, how do yo manage to read the SL manual if it is written in chinese?

.... unless you are one lucky guys that got an english manual for the SL, which I've heard does not exist yet ;-)

If you have the english version for the SL user guide, (not the SP version that is easy to find in the net), would it be possible to get it from you?

I'd really appreciate your help with this. :D
