The touchpad also has some peculiarities that should be noted for beginner users. (this applies to firmware 1.009-3. I'm sure it correlates with other firmwares, but if there are differences, please post). I know I'm missing some important points, so please add if you see something I've missed:
high = anywhere between 'M' and the center of the touchpad
low = anywhere between 'Enter' and the center of the touchpad
1)
Fast/Virtual Scroll. Touch and hold either 'high' or 'low' to fast scroll / virtual scroll through long lists. For example - in your "all songs" list, touch and hold 'low' to continuously scroll down the list.
2)
Reading Text. When reading text or ebooks, tap (not press) either 'high' or 'low' to go to the next page or page backwards. If you find that the backlight is going off as you are reading, just tap the touchpad in the center to get the light back on without flipping the page.
3)
Calibrate the touchpad when it's acting screwy. It is already detailed in this thread:
How to calibrate the touchpad.
4)
Wrap around scroll. In menu settings; once you have reached the bottom of a list, the Meizu prevents you from sliding your finger down any further to scroll back to the first item in the list. To scroll back up to the first item, just tap 'low' and it will take you back to the top. The same is true for going from the first item to the last using 'high'. For example - in the Main Menu, let's say you scroll all the way down to "settings". If you want to jump back to "music", just tap 'low'.
5)
FF and
RW in audio tracks. There are a couple ways to FF or RW. You can tap the center of the touchpad once to get the diamond, then slide your finger up or down to pinpoint a place in the track. Alternatively, you can just press and hold either FF or RW for a faster movement of the track placement. The rate at which it FF's or RW's increases the longer you hold it down.
6)
Turn off backlight. At any point, you can press and hold 'M' to immediately turn down the backlight and save battery life.
7) In
voice record, to pause the recording process, press 'Enter'. To re-activate, press 'Enter' again. To exit, press and hold 'Enter' for 2 seconds, until the icon in the top left corner turns to a square. Then press 'M' in order to exit.
