Delete songs? Also, Itunes?
Is there any way to delete songs off the M6 without going through the tedious process of using the browser? That is, is there something I can do while a song is playing -- or immediately afterwards -- that will cause it to be deleted? It would be pretty handy for getting rid of songs I've listened to or don't like, without having to remember them and do it later, when the player is plugged into my computer. (One of the drawbacks of the iPod is you can't do that -- though you can rate the song and delete it by ratings. -- Can I rate a song on the M6 while it's playing?
Also, is there any way to get the iTunes to recognize the M6, and plugins or anything (for Windows).
Thanks,
P

No there is no such a deleting function I'm afraid.
No, the M6 doesn't use star ratings either. Maybe they will incorperate that into the future firmwares, as the rating stars are found in the resource files.

Hey,
Don't know what these other guys are talking about. Don't know anything about iTunes, BUT you can delete data you have transferred to the M6 so long as you don't put them into any of the five dedicated folders in the Root Menu. Just leave them in the Root Menu itself and you will have the delete option. Works with individual items as well as collections in folders. At least this works for me on a Dane Elec branded M6 S version player with the latest S 2.002.3 firmware. May not apply universally. Seems to have something to do with the way the dedicated folders format the player.
Let me know if this works for you,
Scott
PS You have to delete from Root Menu (Browser). Can't be done from any of the other menu options.

Right, just don't put them in any of the dedicated folders when you load the player. How hard is that?

if you do this, you'll have to listen to the songs through the browser, as the music player function of the m6 only picks up songs in the dedicated MUSIC folder.
the original query wants to avoid using the browser, if i understand it correctly. thus, your solution is not really a solution.
in any case, i've been wondering about this also. i wish it would be possible to delete songs while they're playing. sometimes, stray music files make their way to my m6 as i sometimes use the shuffler program.

Wrong, Ms Manners. Again, you do not know what you are talking about. In US firmware, anyways, all songs in the player show up in the "All Songs" function. True, you can't delete them on the fly, but you can in Browser, so long as that is how you loaded them.
It's become clear to me that different regional firmwares make the M6 operate differently, so it would probably be helpful if anyone with a problem identifies where in the world they are and what firmware they are running. This would eliminate know-nothings from replying to queries they know nothing about. I include myself in this category.
Fewer smilies would also be appreciated. They give me a headache. Like too much sugar and George Bush.

aww, gee, did SOMEONE get up from the wrong side of the bed today? ok, no more smilies, mr. grouch.
perhaps you're right, i don't know how the other versions of the m6 firmware work so i can only form my opinions from my own experience. my m6 is a TP, btw. also true is the fact that i've ALWAYS put my music files into the MUSIC folder. so yeah, maybe i'm wrong.
but i believe we're straying from the point of this thread which is : is there any way to delete songs WITHOUT using the browser in any way.
the answer, i believe (regardless of region), would then be a resounding NO. and this will remain the case unless meizu modifies the firmware to enable this feature. but please, do enlighten me if i am once again spouting nonsense as a know-nothing who knows nothing about the query.
again, your solution of putting the songs in the root of the player does not solve the main query as one would still need to navigate to the browser to delete the songs.
here, have an aspirin. and do take a spoonful of sugar as it does help the medicine go down. as for Bush, can't really do anything about him, sorry.

glacier you are right.
For one kiloscott you may be talking about THE US firmware or whatever , That does not suit the majority so your soloution (Which does not align with the question)therefore does not appeal to everyones needs , as you stated
"It's become clear to me that different regional firmwares make the M6 operate differently"
To follow up , Your soloution does not work , You say that you can delete songs on the go while listning to them , You are incorrect You can delete songs , But you cant listen to them at the same time , And the method you suggested does not work well either , it requires uses to listen to the songs singly in tready defined orders.

Hey, Ms Manners and Lite in the Loafers,
Here is the original poster's pertinent question, which neither of you have bothered to read:
"It would be pretty handy for getting rid of songs I've listened to or don't like, without having to remember them and do it later, when the player is plugged into my computer"
He can do this if he first loads his files into the Root Menu. No need to re-connect to his computer, no? But, hey, you're both native English speakers, so you know what's really going on.
"singly in tready"????
Even people in England can't speak English.
No shit, what's with all the smilies? And all the "be nice to everyone" nonsense? How about we make the forums about facts and information and not about Ladies Finishing School and all that bullshit? If you don't know what you're talking about then maybe it's best to not say anything.

Well kiloscott, you got my attention and my thanks. Been having a hard time sorting out Video Converter and uploading to M6 (daneelec SP) so ended up with a lot of rubbish on there, just for trial purposes and then found I couldn't delete them..............until your post, thanks.

Hey,
Don't be such a moron!
I think you need to tweak your meds. Maybe trade Prozac for Mellaril. I hear that makes life nicer than pink posies.
God, save me from the younger generation.

Dude (kiloscott), I'm guessing you're an out of work computer programmer who just also lost his wife/gf. Actually, I'm just kidding 'bout that, but you do seem to have a pebble stuck in your anus sideways, it would seem. There is nothing wrong with being civil to others on this forum, and not delving into name calling. Okay, I just called you "Dude"...and for that I apologize. onk onk nudge nudge.
I've been experimenting with your solution to this....and I agree it works mostly, for me because I almost always use the browser to play my music. Since I don't make playlists, it works best for me, and yes, I can delete a song while playing it. The M6 immediately stops playing the song, deletes it, and moves to the next. It takes one press of the menu button, a tap, scroll down to delete, and tap....GONE!
Oh, and BTW, I also do not like Bush, so we do have that in common (Go Ron Paul!). He has nearly ruined this country.
Now back to our regularly scheduled topic..........

Hey,
Why is it that people who think of themselves as "nice" always have plenty of nasty things to say? Where is the "nice" in telling me I'm grouchy, have a rock up my ass, can't get laid, blah, blah, blah? That's being civil? Sounds pretty hypocritical to me.
The fact is I have little patience for morons, especially when, in the face of bald facts, they refuse to admit they don't know what they are talking about and instead persist with their nonsense, wasting everybody's time. This is recognized locally as one of the primary symptom's of George W Bush's Disease. I fail to see the point in remaining civil, as they are usually the first to cease being so. If you re-read the thread, you will see I only responded in kind.

I was gonna say... a guy with a urinal as an avatar (oh, wooo, how COOL, lulz)... wow. Shut the hell up and go look up "Internet badass" at Encyclopedia Dramatica. Seems you really defeated you own "I don't care what you're telling me" attitude by spending 10 minutes writing up multiple replies to tell someone off. Guess what? The world doesn't revolve around you and your desires of what you want to see here. Deal with it. If you can't, stop posting. You make yourself look like an ass.
As for the post by warthog74 saying not to put crap on it, this is more for songs you got tired of and don't really want to hear anymore. I understand that as when mine was working, I usually had about the same set of music for most of the time, but kept switching out only a few songs I got sick of.
What I usually do when I get tired of music is just remember what it was, and then go into my M6 and listen to music while on the PC, and decide what to delete then, switching out those with songs I want to put on. I'd say Lex's idea is the best way to go, though I don't really trust the M6's delete function that much, since I've had weird files with Chinese characters and files that don't exist turn up after deleting the custom background files on the go.
