Miniplayer Repair

I had to resolder my miniplayer on/off/play/pause (play) switch as it stopped responding. I bought my miniplayer off ebay from China and the dealer has been deregistered, and did not want to wait for shipping to and from China and the expense, and questionable warranty. I decide to have a go at fixing it myself, I am a qualified electronic technician and experienced in micro electronic repairs.



(play switch is at the bottom and next to it is the touch pad ribbon connector, then earphone socket, mic, USB, Hold switch. The red and black wire are for the Li-ion battery which will need to be replaced in about 3 years.)

After carefully prising the back shell off, I carefully unscrewwd the 2 screws holding the pcb and carefully disconnected the touch pad ribbon to give me access to the bottom of the PCB, the SMD play switch had completely come away from the board, I reposistioned it and resoldered it in place, reconnected the touch pad ribbon, reinstalled the screws and case, and very happy to find play switch working again.

I hope this is helpful to other that may have the same fault.

By the way I use the elite dark tint crystal case, I hope that the plastic actuator for th play switch has not cause excessive force to be put on the miniplayer switch. Please post here if you have also had problems with play or hold switches.

I'm not brave enough to open my miniplayer, because I could break something.
But I will certainly ask you If I have any problems.

geez, that's just plain scary. it's almost as bad as watching those medical operations on tv. only this doesn't have blood.

i'm such a clumsy person, i'd probably ruin my miniplayer if i tried this trick. hopefully, i won't have to resort to this and my m6 will live it's long (maybe 2-3 years) life unaltered. :D

I do not think anyone here is inferior, and everyone has there own special talents or skills and it is best to share your knowledge to help others.

I spent many years repairing Radio Pagers so was familiar with the technology, but resoldering a loose component is fairly easy as long as you can get to the solder contacts, a lot of the new stuff is so small you can't hand solder or the contacts are under the chips.

By the way the TP model I have is more newer / improved than the one shown in the pictures, which seems to be more like a prototype. I expect the SP model would be more improved again.

one thing you don't do in life is take stuff apart that doesn't need taking apart. its not the breaking bit thats worries me, its putting it back together neatly so all the connectors are not bunched up and so and then actually finding where that minute screw goes!

Ew! Tiny things like this...I wouldn't venture to repair. lol

When I was 18 (newly married and financially struggling), I went to the dump to drop off some garbage. I spied a shiney VHS player. The thing looked brand new and had a nice build. I took it home, plugged it in, it powered up but no go.

I decided to take the case off, looked around and then...spied a little spindle that was not in place. I slid it back on, turned it on and bingo...played my tape. It gave me 4 years of good service. lol All for free...just took about 15 minutes of my time.

I don't think meizu m6 battery will last me more than ~2 years, and many other miniplayer owners will need to open their miniplayer in the future for getting battery replaced. That's very nice,usefull thread, photos of inside miniplayer looks interesting
