Yeah, it happened to me as well for some reason. Part of the servers were down, since I used a proxy and could still access the site fine.

OGG/Vorbis

I'm assuming OGG/Vorbis will be supported, since M6 supports it as well. Any device I want to play music on and does not support OGG has no chance to come into my house. My wife is learning that the hard way with her iPod shuffle, hehe...

I'm guessing by using something close to the iPhone's tech?

Lol.. I'm just reading through and laughing at this comment, the the amount of delays and how much they are setting back the date.. Its basically a stylish PDA without GPS or any of the features like DVB-T that they originally spoke about. And now the phone isn't 3G even. Even the New iphone is 3G and has GPS...
It has been pretty much two years since the announcement.. And about a year since people "expected" the release.

Sorry guys.. But I think im out of the M8 from now. Id rather have an iphone because it has a couple more features ,That I would use like the GPS.
And the interface on the iphone just has the "wow" factor. Its pretty much seamless.

Edit: Actually no.. Fact is, My acer N50 , that is about 3 years old from 2005 , Has Wifi , Bluetooth a 520mhz processor.. Its much like the M8 in terms of core specs. Ok it dosnt have a phone capability as it wasnt designed for that market.. But ill tell you what it does have.. TV OUT and OTG.... Features which arnt even included in the M8 anymore. Im sorry.. But the M8 really is turning into a somewhat stylish but very basic PDA.. nothing more. Ok. It has a decent screen but thats about it now.

It has to be said that the M8 (on paper) is certainly no longer the phone that they had originally intended it to be or the phone we had all hoped it would be (spec wise). The loss of USB-OTG and TV-OUT were certainly killer blows not to mention the issues with b-frames in video playback and the complete omition of GPS and also the uncertainty surrounding wifi.

Nevertheless, in many ways the M8 is similar to the spec sheet of the 1st generation iphone (no gps, no 3G etc). No doubt they are very late and the spec is looking more dated by the day, however.....

Obviously this has been a huge task for Meizu to take on considering they have never developed anything as complex in the past and many many unprecedented problems have stood in their way causing huge delays. The thing is if they do manage to build a solid foundation and the 1st gen M8 turns out to be a strong performer hopefully the 2nd generation may show a lot more promise and include many of the omitted features on the 1st gen unit.

It is certainly much harder to build an entirely new piece of hardware/software from scratch than it is to modify and update an already strong performing device.

Lets not forget Windows CE 6.0 is also a very new platform and should serve as a solid base for future models. The inclusion of Gps and 3g modules, a few MP's on the camera + TV-Out and USB-OTG on a 2nd gen model and they may have a winner.

The only way we will really know what we are dealing with is when the 1st M8 reviews materialise. This is when we can really start to tell what sort of standard of a device we are dealing with.

Lets not forget that with the original iphone apple had amazing run away succes with what was essentially (at the time) a very underspecd device, hopefully meizu can do the same. A well implemented interface will be a big big selling point, and from what we have seen in the video it does look promising.

I really hope the 1st gen M8 will have USB OTG and TV-Out with a firmware update.

Ah well , I really hope the M8 will do well. Honestly , I want it to. But from the looks of things its going a little downhill. I dont wanna be the negative guy really.. Im just saying the honest truth.

I think the iphone was pretty damn well done. With such a nice interface. Ok.. Youll argue The lg prada or whatever was first.. But its kinda innovative with some of the features and style of the device. Meizu are gonna need alot to live up to it especially since they have spent such a long time doing what seems like reducing functionality and lowering the inital specs.

Its a shame.

I wouldn't mind if that were possible...

Needing 5v and not being able to serve dual-view does sound like a hardware problem?
