windows mobile 7 delayed

Hello, i read an article on Windows Mobile 7 release delayed | Beyond Binary - A blog by Ina Fried - CNET News where they say that windows mobile 7 will be delayed by a pretty long time, i like the way meizu implemented all the things like multi-touch, while microsoft is struggling and delaying their new product.
i guess meizu is not the only one that delays its products becouse it can not get finnished on time

what do you guys think about this news?

I dont know much about WM7, but what I have seen of Android and the fact that it is open source makes care less and less about WM

Open source is the future

Nothing special, Meizu M8 will NOT run WM7 but WinCE 6. And WinCE 6 is already finnished since a while back.

Yeah, but WinMo 7 is based on WinCE 6 if I'm correct.

Well, the fact that WinCE 6 is finished since a while back, is true for both the M8 and WM7, since both of them use it. Of course, the amount of changes in WM7 must be much larger than in M8, but then again Microsoft also has much more resources.

The point here is that we are seeing proof that these things take time.

And I don't think that adapting WinCE for the M8 was as simple as it might seem. It's not just writing drivers (which is pretty time-consuming already) and adding a new skin. In fact, just to be able to "add a new skin" and make the UI work as desired, they probably had to create their own shell replacement (think SharpE as an example)! Not only that, but they also had to create the basic apps for music, video, photos, and so on.

Anyway, this delay from Microsoft is very good news for Meizu. If WM7 were released on time there would be little edge in M8's software. but as it is, Meizu's decision to use WinCE 6 is proving to be the right choice: it will give them the edge while most of the competition is still stuck with WM6.1.
