MEIZU's BIGGEST COMPETITOR YET (well i think anyway)

Check this out, the new htc thats supposed to hit this christmas. the specs are really something. giv me your views:

These are the Specs:

System:
- 4-inch 65K TFT touchscreen with 480 x 800 pixel resolution
- 512MB ROM, 327MB available to the user
- 288MB DDR SDRAM
- microSDHC (up to 32GB)
- Built-in accelerometer
Connectivity
- GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS900, UMTS2100
- CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA
- mini-USB connector
- Bluetooth 2.0+EDR
- Wireless LAN
- FM radio with RDS
- 3.5mm standard audio jack
- GPS receiver Qualcomm gpsOne with A-GPS

Camera
- 5 megapixel autofocus Webserver Technotop Internetdiensten
- No camera flash
- Video recording: 320x240 pixels(QVGA)@30fps
- Secondary VGA video calls camera

Battery
- 1350 mAh capacity

Based on Windows Mobile 6.1, the new HTC Touch HD measures 115 x 62.8 x 12mm (which is just about the iPhone 3G with 115.5 x 62.1 x 12.3mm). Yes, slim it is and it has a large display (that's now confirmed as a 4-incher) with the overwhelming resolution of 800 x 480 pixels. It also seems to be running TouchFLO 3D. The Webserver Technotop Internetdiensten Touch HD (we don't know whether that would be its retail name) is powered by a 528Mhz CPU courtesy of the Qualcomm 7201A platform. There are 512MB flash memory and 288MB of RAM. Of course, goodies like GPS, Wi-Fi and HSPDA go without saying, but the HTC Touch HD also has a 5 megapixel camera (without a flash though). Unfortunately, video recording is not that high-end as it maxes out at QVGA@30fps. The Touch HD is due this Christmas, so we could be in for some official announcement really soon.

That thing looks amazing. If M8 doesn't come out by then, I'll probably get that thing. Only bad thing is I don't know the price, and looking at the specs, it probably won't be cheap. And you're right, that is the BIGGEST competitor (physically AND feature wise).

i'm quite sure the price could be around 3 times higher than the m8, i would personally wait a little longer to get the m8, wich will be a lot cheaper. (and who knows, perhaps even a lot better since faster processor?)

The phone is going to be for executives, or someone who saves up for it that honestly has nothing better to spend it on.

well...this device does look nice but.....bare in mind these things:

1. It is Windows Mobile 6.1, which IMO is not a good platform at all. Was never made to be used with a finger and will never rival an interface like that of the iphone. You will not get the responsiveness or fluidity in the interface and touch screen that you will get with the M8 either (from what I saw on the video). It is also bulit on the dated Win Ce 5.0 base. Win 6.0 can run hundreds more processes at once is is bound to much improved due to it's redesigned kernel.

2. The screen is only 65,000 colours. And the fact this phones screen is 0.6 inches larger means the pixel density is probably very similar to the M8 despite the M8 having 80 less pixels width ways.

3. The ARM CPU that will be used by the M8 is infinetely more powerful than the 520mhz Qualcomm CPU used in this phone. Personally I think there is no chance that this will be able to decode video at anywhere near 720x480 and even if it can it will be very jerky.

4. Codec support will be limited at best, I suppose you may be able to get third party software to play other formats but still.

5. This will DEFINITELY be a much more expensive thahn the M8. No doubt.

After using Samsung's omnia extensively I have decided I will not be buying any finger touch screen based Windows Mobile 6.1 device. The software/hardware integration is poor IMO, it takes ages to boot and the interface lags too. The M8 still seems far more interesting.

Obviously 3G and GPS is always nice but I have no need for either and they are not necessities. Mega Pixels mean very little too and A 5 mega pixel camera with no flash seems just as pointless to me as a 3.2 mega pixel camera with no flash. I would use very rarely if at all and the times I would want to use it would be useless as it would probably be at night.

Overall I would much prefer an easy to use responsive custom interface (which is what the M8 is looking like) with a focusus on media instead of a convoluted badly put together WinMo 6.1 interface.

If the M8 gets recieved well, I still think it stands for better value.

Wow at the resolution on that thing. That phone is pretty sikk. I'm not making any judgments until I see some reviews on the thing though.

i read the price will be
1100$-1200$
770€ - 844€
free contract.

I think that's a good smartphone... what i'm looking... for GPS.
I know it use Win Mob 6.1 but there are the "pro" - the software for WinMobile it's a lot and a lot is freeware.
I don't know how many software will found in the future for Meizu (WinCE 6.0).

Well... i'll wait for see when this 2 phone come out, i want see some test, after I'll decide which buy.

It's about the same pixel density, so it doesn't really matter.
