Thank you for the translation! I will not wait for the second version, because of the price of an 3G contract in France... it's very expensive, and you have many open Wi-Fi spots...

in german 3g is not such expensive...
for 10€ more/month u get a flat for "the real internet", how vodafone calls it

And videotelephony is as expansive as normal telephony.

But if u want to have an iPhone the contract is much more expansive ...

So basically the 3 button design was considered useless because the unlocking mechanism is very efficient? I fail to see a connection there... for me, the 3-button design was brilliant because:

(1) it provided direct shortcuts for the main M8 functions: phone, menu (applications), and media player.
(2) made the dock menu (which is a bit iPhone-ish and clumsy IMO) unnecessary,
(3) made the M8 look more unique.

Somehow it looks to me that the reason why they went back to 1 single button was actually the UI design made by EiCO, but anyway... this design looks good too.. Just a bit too similar to the iTouch.

On another note, it's good to know that JW is already thinking on the 3G M8. Personally, I will wait for it. 3G is a standard here in Europe, and even if I wouldn't use it often because of the costs, I would prefer my device to be 3G-able. That by itself may not be a reason to wait, but I'm taking a few more factors into consideration too:

(1) on the 2nd version there's a bigger chance that possible glitches will have been fixed (like for example, the M6SL's auto-calibrating touch strip),
(2) I don't feel very comfortable about importing a 300€+ device,
(3) despite it's 4 years of age, my current phone looks like it can still survive for quite a bit more,
(4) I think that after the first M8 is out, v2 (3G) will not take that long anyway :-)

i do hope 3g will be there soon cause here in belgium there is a good coverage, and price plans are not so cheap but affordable.
Anyway, i´ll buy the 2g first caus i cant wait anymore :-)

i do hope a video/review launches soon

the device seems nice, how ever i personally preferred no buttons at all but a whole touch screen what would have made it nicer, but that will take some time i guess.

Am i correctly understanding that no one will sell this device in europe / usa untill 3 g?

damn, hard to believe that this thing might finally be arriving. I am THIS close to pulling the trigger on an Ipod Touch (bought a Samsung Blackjack 2 w/o Wi-Fi for PDA functions).

Hardware aside, do we know whether Meizu is working to improve the software. the one thing I didn't like about my M6 was how it tended to hang when running m3u playlists. I hope Meizu has taken some cues from Apple on how to have seamless playlist integration in a player.

My final question is: is there any way to tell right now whether the multi-touch interface will be able to match that of the Ipod Touch/IPhone. Many worthy competitors have tried, but people say that they haven't really come too close. i'm talking about stuf like the HTC Diamond (slow loading), the Samsung instinct (unintuitive), and even the Samsung Omnia, which just came out.

Edit: I bought a Toshiba T400 after my M6 was stolen. It's still working well, so I think I can hold on till November. Thank God for Ebay and bulk Internet sellers.
