Windows CE??

I've just read that the m8 will use windows CE? Does that mean that this expensive tom tom software I bought for my PDA will be totally useless on this thing? There seems to be a lot of confusion and I probably wont really know til i get hold on one of these things which at the rate meizu are going, will be never!

What sat nav software can run on CE?

If I'm off track then it's because the m8 development has been more all over the place than a woman going through her monthly halal menstrual cycle and I CANT KEEP UP!

I like the phone, i miss the silver / windows design and I want sat nav on it. Anybody able to confirm anything?

99.9% of the satnav units (PNA) are using Windows CE, it is just a gues, but I think that navigation software that was designed for PNA will work.
It does not need installation, just run the .exe file and you can go.
This is my idea, I am not a specialist. I have a WM6 PDA and I can run Miomap for PNA on it.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Yeah, your tomtom will work, but you need to hack/modify it.

Hack? Modify? Nothing at all, just drop everything on my memory card, tab on the .EXE file and start navigating. A Windows Mobile divice is not like a iPhone that needs to be hacked to run 3rd party application on it.

How about just waiting till the M8's out and just taking a look at how well it handles 3rd party apps?

What do you know about that? Do you own a device that use WinCE as a core? You know that Meizu M8 will run a modified version of WinCE? It doesn't has all the requiered dll's and other sys-files to get WinCE programs to work property.

To get an idea of how well it is expected to run them, so you can figure out whether it's worth the wait?

i agree on the point to wait until it is launched before making any judgment.

On the other side, even iff it is modified by meizu and it misses any dll or other that is not a big disaster, cause you can allways import those files to the rom or on a ram disk ..

On the same idea you can change the complete os it runs, like so is done on devices from HTC, , how is that forum called, howard forum? make some research..
they seem to be able to built there own rom image , so this device can do the same normaly,

a nice idea would become to import a clean and full ce or WM6 or even the android os from google since this could also become interesting and has many new developers.

It would not make sense for meizu to remove any standard libs. More work for a less attractive phone with potential dependency-problems?
