Yeah it also says that the applying time period is from the 15th July - 15th August. That means that for 1 whole month there will be nothing happening in the news side of things. It is simply an application time frame after which they will decide who gets the phone and in which group. This is going to take a long ass time to get done.

And that is just the Alpha stage. The beta stage has to come after that again. I wonder when we will get some REAL news?????????????????????????????????????????????? ??????

Next 40 days will be waiting as usual. Of course they didn't specifically state that they'll deliver on the 26th of august so you never know...

Disappointing moment.

He meant that the end of the sign up phase doesn't mean that they will deliver the test versions to the beta tester next day.

I guess he means that Meizu will probably not deliver the first test units by the 26th August either. Of course there will still be some communication delays, and shipping delays, so don't expect any alpha M8s delivered before September. And that is more or less the best case scenario.

@Sunless:
Why open a second thread for the same news?

Yes...Now, what this "alpha test lottery" will bring to Meizu is at least one more month during which they will provide no device (alpha or else), no solid info, no movie, nothing...
So at least one more month of pure delay....again.

Many trolls appeared on this forum lately...but one of their messages (m8 is vaporware) smell less and less trollish and more and more genuine everyday.

Meizu seems well down the path of failure, I do not know how it work in China, but I would not be surprized if they are buyed out by another company, or just dissapear from the radar.

Not worth looking here anymore, I think I will be back in october-november to check if something new happen...

Bye all, speculations here were fun but without news it is not worth for me anymore...

Cheers,

Kai.

But the end of the sign up phase is the 15th not the 26th. I know what he means though.

Traps I reckon that's exactly what it means. This is another way for meizu to buy time. I don't see why it would take them from today[15th July] until the 25th August to say who will get to be able to buy the test phone. I mean there are already more than enough sign ups since it was posted this morning. It's 6:02pm here in China and on the registration page there are currently 1110 people/posts for a chance to get to be a tester of the M8. That means that in 9 hours they have gotten more than double what the needed to get in a month.

Also something else to look at is the fact that their are 3 groups:

500 total---3 groups first group-20 second group 80 third group 400

How long of a gap will there be between the first and second getting their phones and then the second and third?

Meizu is really starting to annoy me with how they are planning all this out and how they are managing their business. At the end of the day, the customer owns the business as they are the ones who keep it profitable and in business. If they don't get their act together and fast they won't have many customers left.

Just a trick for delay.

This apply could buy Meizu another month for finishing the prototype.

Then maybe they could take a second month for deciding who will get the alpha phones.
