Are you sure? What about Microsoft's "Surface" tables?

A while back I've stumbled upon this very nice video on YouTube showing a multi-touch surface in action. Back then, it was still experimental and under development, but I can't believe that Apple now holds they key to everything that's multi-touch. I've seen the patent sheet and afaik it just refers to a certain method of accomplishing multi-touch - not the concept of multi-touch itself.

If it's true, that's some good news. A WindowsCE-based OS plus an open SDK certainly boosts its appeal (for me). I don't like closed and restrained systems.

What I -really- would love to see on the miniOne is Microsoft's Deepfish. Anyone else think that's one sexy little browser?

And I -do- hope that the Al-Mg shell will be availiable in silver too. It's sooooooo much more yummy and classy.
Mahlzeit is a Germany word and really puzzles me. But i finally get its meaning "meal" by google, and is that right?
m8's browser is not sure now, maybe it is only a improved IE, anyway I'm not sure. what I know is you can touch to zoom in/out. maybe you can install deepdish by yourself.
According to J.wong who is meizu ceo , siver shell is also availabe. But I think the first version sold in the market will be likely to be in black only, but who knows? maybe when you can buy it just beside your house ,m8 is colorful

Yes. This is said by J.wong himself. Microsoft's "Surface" is also great ,but i'm afraid m8's hardware is finished and is impossible to change by now.Anyway it takes quite a long time. Maybe m8's next vertion will support multi-touch.

It is. It's wishing someone "bon appetit"... :D

As long it's got page resizing and smart panning I'll be happy. With the portable versions of Safari, Deepfish and Opera featuring those I'm quite positive that the M8 won't ship without it.

Besides, I can't understand the fuzz about the M8 mimicking the iPhone's UI. If anything, the M8's UI looks rather Vista-ish to me. Ever took a closer look at the Windows Media Player 11? That's what -I- see when looking at the M8's GUI designs...

And if it's not, there's still my good ol' grinding machine. It's metal, after all. :D

I wasn't complaining about the M8 not featuring multi-touch (don't need it, I only need one finger to be good :D - and so does the M8. It's still a very impressive piece of technology, even without multi-touch. ), just about the whole idea of multi-touch being a property of Apple. And even if it is, it won't take all too long until other brands will feature it as well. Just remember Mercedes Benz introducing rear view mirrows with integrated indicator lights: It was their exclusive for about two years, these days you can get these from pretty much every car manufacturer.

Multi touch is a nice feature but is not really necessary, a well implemented single touch interface is more than enough.

There has not been any word on a full list of audio and video codec support since the spec released a couple of monthes back, has Mr Wong confirmed the full list? (eg. xvid, flac, ape etc) does Mpeg4 definitely indicate Xvid/Divx support? Any mention of DVB-T support from Mr Wong too?

SDK stands for Software Development Kit. With it programmers can make new programs for the m8

J.wong has confirmed h.264 decode can be up to 2m bps,but he doesn't mention mpeg4. I think there is no need to worry because it is very easy to decode mpeg4. In China, mpeg4 basically means to xvid+divx. In fact, I am more worried about rmvb decode. rmvb is not a free format, and needs a high-level hardware. but rmvb is the most popular format in China. flac and ape are not sure now; he doesn't mention it, but he confirms m8 will have a seperated audio decoder(likely to be wolfson).so I don't worry about it.
DVB is not built-in, you need an extra device. he doesn't mention much of it.
by the way, I read a post just now in which J.wong confirms m8 has a LCD of 720*480 resolution. the link

That's great to hear that this has been confirmed by J. Wong himself. Its a shame there's no multi-touch, but good to hear it can do some of the iphone's multi-touch functions with a single touch.
Does anyone know if you'll be able to flip through album art like on the iphone's coverflow. I don't need it, but it'd be nice to know :3
And does scrolling build up momentum?
