Meizu M8 As Early As Q3?
PConline, one of China's largest gadget news networks reports that the Meizu M8 aka. miniOne may already be out as early as August this year which is within the third quarter of 2007 (Q3).
The Meizu miniOne has been widely discussed on the internet these past days and has been coined as both an "iPhone clone" and an "iPhone killer". Some have stamped the M8 as vaporware but that is seeming more and more not to be the case.
For more information on the miniOne, check here, here or here.
SourceCan't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsDesignwise... only the Prada phone (or the original LG version). Otherwise there are plenty, though they usually come with less space, you'll have to add via SD etc. And usually these phones are pretty expensive, I'd say at least 400 € without the memory, mine was 700 when it was new. The M8 is groundbreakingly cheap, the 150 € the very basic version is supposed to cost will only get you a simply cheap phone like a Motorola Razr V3i etc. How the ... can they offer THAT price? Probably the Windows on it will be pirated :D
Damn. August sounds better than end of the year, I'd imediately buy one, but... it needs to be bought now, in August I'd have to pay those insane import prices (pay twice the amount for a downgraded player (no radio)? Insane!).

It can still be december in Europe. It takes a couple of months to get an approvel too. That is one of the reasones why the iPhone will hit the European market later then in the US.
Also, what bands does it have for sure?
In the EU you need at least 900/1800 GSM.
In The US you need 850/1900GSM.
Trippleband in EU is 900/1800/1900 and quadband is 900/1800/1900/2100. Bluetooth?
WLAN?
Smart touchscreen so you can zoom in with your fingers as on the iPhones?
Sync with MAC OS X?

syncing could be build upon microsoft active sync. this way it should be easy for third party apps on mac os x to support it (missing sync, etc.). i think the new neonode supports syncing via active sync on windows, this is a windows ce device too...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSince it is a Windows Mobile device Meizu probably won't have too much influence over syncing etc., but it's a common OS so there should be quite a bit of software. I doubt that it will have multitouch, otherwise they should have announced it by now (although maybe they will add it. Still some time left).
I think Meizu have been working on it for a while (see the rumors), and when the iPhone came out, the designers thought, mh, good idea, copy it. Sadly I must say, because I'm sure they could have come up with something better looking, somehow the chrome part looks fake, and there is too much, etc. Remember the first M8 rumors? That thing looked brilliant. Anyway I think the new design was done in a way that there was no (or not much) futher work on the internals neccessary, so they could keep that stuff.

wifi
how is it that nobody can say if it has wifi capabilities or not?

Because at this time the final specification has not been released.
However, the initial specification show it does not have wi-fi at this time.

This won't be a Windows Mobile device.... This will be a Windows CE device. Windows Mobile 6 that has just been announced at 3GSM is based on a CE 5.0 kernel and the WM shell does not support such a customization and such a resolution. So this definitely is a Windows CE 6.0 device and WM applications won't run on it... or hardly. Have a look there for more info :

i hate Apple just as much as everybody else, but I am not sure how comparable it will be to the iphone other than form factor and layout, as I had heard Apple was developing some features with Cingular specifically for the iphone, and Apple is obviously not going to use CE as the OS. Not that this is a bad thing, but I can't see how Meizu can improve on something that isn't even released yet.
