I just picked up an all black one yesterday. The back is plastic. 4gb. The 8gb version is also this way. Not very "special" if you ask me, just unique. They just dropped the price for domestic China sales to 699($90) for 4gb and 999($120) for the 8gb(release next week).

Ill have to see that first
999 for 8Gb seems too little.
Besides it would be a bad move for Meizu to make the back ofthe Miniplayer plastic... it wont add to the style of it..
The pic i have seen so far showed metal backs... but those might have been premature..
personally I certainly prefer a metal back over a plastic back as metal gives that extra shine and style
ps: Meizu still states 1150 for the 8GBLast edited by Job; 03-12-2007 at 02:20 AM.

I'll post some picts later today. It's plastic though. I'll let you know next weekend when I go to pick up an 8gb model and put it through the works and see if the price has changed. I should have grabbed the print flyer that showed the 4gb for 699 and 8gb for 999. I'll see if I can grab one this week from a shop.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI like the all black. If they have the 8gig in all black at the end of this month, I'm definitely going to pick one up.

Just that plastic on the back seems a bit...cheap... know what i mean?

So it seems the way it's working is this. The old chrome/metal back players are now the premium player and they have switched to all black plastic for the standard player. Is this correct? Seems to be looking that way...

but it doesnt look cheap or weak with the plastic back right?

Here's a pict of my 4gb just bought yesterday(in China). It is firmware version S 2.002.2
The extra gloss on the front and back were the complimentary anti scratch film they placed not so precisely on. It was 699 yuan($90usd). It came with a lanyard with metal "Meizu" logo, disc, usb cable, Black Pt-850 ear buds , white "pouch", and owner's manual(in chinese).
Now that I look closer what I first assumed was plastic back....IS METAL! They matched the front plastic with the back paint for the metal perfectly!
So according to Meizu's Chinese website, i bought this at the "regular version" price. Is it?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsActually, I can confirm the price of 999 for the 8 GB version here in China. That is the quote I also got yesterday. I was a little miffed that the 4 GB is selling at more or less half the price I paid 4 months ago, but then, it wasn't all that much to begin with.

The 8Gb player will have a metal back.
here is the confirmation of the Meizu Headoffice:
--------
About the 8GB M6 Miniplayer, it will be released in our local market very soon.
It has a metal back. The total weight of it is about 55G.
Should you have any question, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thanks again and best wishes,

That's good cause I personally wouldn't like plastic much
although I must say the pics above look good

IMO-I'd say the only major diff between the M3 and the M6 is the screen size and maybe battery size. So the actual cost difference is just a little screen real estate. about $10-$15 at most. And well, I doubt seriously that the price of the M6 will go up, so they might be in a pinch and maybe drop the price a bit more on the M3!?!?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe M3 is smaller than the M6 too. IMO this is the main criterion that makes anyone choose M3 over M6. (but not me: I don't like the asymmetric design of the M3...)

hmmm i disagree...
while the size might be nice people tend to go for the extras even if they dont use them...just look at mobile phones... they are full of extars and options no one ever uses...
so...even if you don't need a big screen... if you can get one for a few bucks extra... mist people will get that one

not really.. the Meizu always had a Metal Back... no fear for serious scratches cause it comes with a standard see through film that will prevent scratching(all Miniplayer do)
As far as I know the all black player as are limited edition players. They wont be around for ever.
The normal Miniplayer still has the regular metal color back.
Ps: added a pic of the Limited Edition all black players back I took
You can see its metal with the usual plastic protective filmLast edited by Job; 03-17-2007 at 03:05 PM.
