Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsOmglol their booth actually got closed down?!? Rofl, huge rofl.
If it's true they actually stood there for only 1 day from 6 total :D:D.
Would be quite disturbing though concerning a global release, import sucks.Last edited by DusL; 03-05-2008 at 02:29 PM.

wow I can't believe this. Shame they can't touch Meizu in china. But how can this be? surely you cannot patent a tocuhscreen with icons? the hardware is totally different too. How will this stick? I suppose perhaps the GUI, but they aren't at the moment selling it in Europe and they were only prototypes so technically they are not doing anything wrong.

i think a**le holds a design patent. so yes, you actually can patent a design, and a prototype on public display would violate such patents...
meizu should have known this. it's actually kind of dumb to go to a trade fair with a product which clearly imitates a well known phone, without checking possible legal conflicts before...
as for a translation:
the article describes the miniOne as being a fancy smartphone with a modified windows CE OS. however, the manufacurer - meizu - is now in trouble because the miniOne closely resembles the iphone.
because of that, two policemen paid the meizu booth a visit this morning. they told visitors that the booth was shut down until further notice and made booth staff fill out some forms.
the booth was already emptied, police states devices and brochures were confiscated.
apparently, meizu is not the only exhibitor that got shut down, there was a major police operation against patent violations today.
police does not yet comment on further details, a press conference is announced for thursday.Last edited by cord; 03-05-2008 at 03:15 PM.

this proves only one : for apple's yearly legal bill you could easily buy a small company like Meizu.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsGuys, you can't buy this kind of marketing! :D
The non-functioning, outdated prototype got seized. So what?!
If Meizu's lucky they get CNN or BBC World coverage.
Every one will know the brand name, along with the name M8.
Gratz to the marketing departement of Meizu for this little gem of product placement

Thanked 1,024 Times in 375 PostsThree more videos (in chinese...)
http://v.zol.com.cn/player.swf?movieId=20267
http://v.zol.com.cn/player.swf?movieId=20268
http://v.zol.com.cn/player.swf?movieId=20269
Takes a lot of time to load (at least for me) so open up the three at once and press pause to buffer
In the second movie you can see the Photo interface (sorta), and the phone in the third one .Last edited by nice2know_u; 03-06-2008 at 07:39 AM.

Thanked 1,024 Times in 375 PostsJ Wong posted a poll about the three-key-design, here's the link (LOL, he used the photos made by engadget)

Translated version of http://meizu.com/bbs/dispbbs.asp?boardID=22&ID=614030&page=1
Also, it looks like Meizu won't be attending CeBIT anymore, according to J Wong's latest post:
The following is quoted in 2008-3-7 0:40:00 J. Wong statement:
Although the exhibition has been displayed normal, but I decided tomorrow we Germany exhibitors will be withdrawn, no longer on display.
The exhibition objective has been achieved, then we have to do is improve the m8 as soon as possible and to the market.

i am a little concerned abou the 'UI changes' that Mr Wong has indicated, so as to differentiate the M8 form the Iphone. I really like the icons and the UI as it is. I hope they don't go for simplified icons and tool bars like samsung phones and phones like the LG prada have, I think they look boring and unimaginative.

Im SOOO glad hes started that poll!
Although, havent they just patented the three key design ? if so, seams strange there changing it again. Anyway i quite like the look of '01'
Love this J.Wong quote too:
RegardsJ.Wong: i-touch and iphone too much like, although there are other foreign brands like iphone phone, but it seems that Chinese brands must make a greater difference can be more recognition.Last edited by Russarch; 03-06-2008 at 08:34 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsA basic translation:
Every year there are suicidal Chinese companies that wants to use the Apple design to make extra profit and launch clones. This year it was Meizu technology from the Chinese Guangdong that showed a iPhone clone and immediatly got a visit from some guys on a official mission.Last edited by hotboxx; 03-07-2008 at 02:14 PM.
