I think the button is also touch sensative and performs forward or reverse track skipping by rubbing your finger left or right across it.

I for one like the simple and clean design aesthetic. That being said I won't be buying one as I really need a device that has a larger screen and plays video. Bring on the M8 !!!!!

    iPod?

    I don't like it :-/
I mean: AWESOME! 8GB! But it looks too iPodish for me. I really liked the shape of the M6 touchpad and this new shape is rather ugly. I also agree that the screen is too small for such a big player ..

Maybe the quality is better than the quality of the M6, but I'm sure Err0r can tell us soon

One of these days... meizu is going to get into a lot of trouble with apple.
    Current Rigs:
    8GB iAudio 7 > Not in use
    4GB + 32GB iAudio D2 > Alessandro MS-Pro
Sony MZ-NH1 > Headroom Total Bithead > Grado Labs PS-1
    2GB Meizu M6 T1 > Not in use
    8GB iPod Touch 2G > Shure SE530

hmm...it's a nano! ..with a strip instead of the click wheel... :P
hehe...well...it looks good...but it's not for me...i like the big screen on my miniplayer....i wish they just came up with an M6 that has 8Gb capacity...or an M8 with 16Gb! ...they're
going to be beaten by the competition if they don't step it up a notch.

i'm sure there are other people who'll like the player...for those who don't really care for videos on their players...i think tipsytc is right about the lower left button.

so with this one finished...next would be an M8 contest??!!! design the next miniplayer! ...that'd be sweeeeet! :D

Is it just me of does the layout of the strip and dot look a little too, how should I put it, "manly".

The only real advantage I can see over the iPod is not needing iTunes.

I thought they would have gone with a more adventurious design. After the success and reviews of the M6 unless this has 'something up it's sleave' may just be classed as another iPod rip off.

    I expected more from Meizu.

    Whats that?

At first, I`m so happy, that that the M6 is mine. When I look at the new one, there is no revolution, evolution and especially no ideas. The screen is smaller, only the body is different. Of course, to top the M6, Meizu is forced to climb a high mountain, but only to copy the nano is to less. A cheaper price doesnt make it better for the new one.
To make the M6 more perfect, that should be the reason. Then new products - for example with touch-screen, thinner with more capacity about 8 GB, better included ear-buds, cristall-glass, gapless playback and so on.
At least i wanna say, a new player should bring new design, more functions and should be a change to the better!

have to agree with the general concensus. it looks too much like an ipod nano, only without the click wheel.

good thing i wasn't pinning my hopes on the m3.

hmmmm... Definitely not. The player has to be real cheap (someone above said this also) to be interesting. It's the same as the Nano. The Nano isn't interesting as well because when you pay a little extra, you get a lot extra. So I suggest that Meizu should focus on their primary player. Develop it at a higher speed, improve quality etc. This way you can put yourself on the market. Again, look at what Apple did: Put a revolutionary player on the market that pretty much sucks in how it works, but make sure to develop it real fast.
If Meizu does the same they are a well known brand all over the world.
So skip the music card and develop your M6 to a mature product.

The rather negative feedback for the M3 is impressive...

Meizu better get this out dirt cheap otherwise it wont be interesting...

Its a pretty little thing in my opinion but doesnt seemto have nythingt o set it apart from all the others out there...

the whole reason why the M6 is so popular is that is comes with a huge screen for the size of the player and it doesnt waste surface space.
80% of the M3 is used for either the touchstrip or empty space like most other players out there

I hope meizu realizes products lik the M3 can be a nice side-track or extra to their collection of players butthey shouldnt expect to repeat the succes of the M6 with it as the M3 just isnt as special

They should stick to developping and improving the m6
better touch strip, MORE MEMORY, lower prices, better software, wifi option etc

Meizu can contact me any time to hire me as a consultant

I hope that isn't the final design, too. I could swear when I saw the contest rules on the Meizu site, they said it was open until May. They could make this player with the buttons it has, maybe a few more, but they should turn them to the side and place them like the M6, and cut about half the size of it down. I've already seen someone else show that design, and I think that's how a music only player should be made: as small as it can be with the best usage of space.

I still think they should change some of the controls, though, and make it easier to use.

Oh, and I think they might have a problem with the name, since it looks like someone else made a music only player by that name that's truly unique: http://www.ohgizmo.com/2007/01/02/wa...tually-exists/

Hmm... well, maybe they don't actually have that name, but here's the product link: http://www.walletex.com/gp.asp?gpid=117

This thing holds 4 GB, too, but no screen.

Sorry but its just not appealing to the eye.Looks very basic and very NANO.One of the main reasons i bought the M6 was the screen and its looks. And then what it could do.Ferrari cars perform good but dont look that good.Look at a SALLEEN S7 that looks good.and performs same thing with this new player.TO THE CEO at MEIZU this will not sell and will stop on the shelves.Wake up and read some of these post.

Here's my list of pros and cons:

    Pros:
    • Made by meizu
    • Touch sensitive
    • Customizable (wallpaper, firmware hopefully, ect)
    Cons
    • Lack of used space
    • small screen
    • Too iPodish
    • Not too appealing

    Rating: 2.5/5

I rely hope they change the final design...
