I was very critical of the SL when I first heard about it because I thought it was only a cosmetic change that required a performance change for the worse (battery life).

I still don't quite understand the need to make it thinner with a smaller battery, but I see now that it's a significant change for the better in many other very significant ways and reflects well on Meizu. I'm definitely considering this as my first Meizu player. Any word from the American sellers on carrying this model?

It's on the first post. Use online currency converters like www.xe.com to convert.

I wasn't asking about the price, I was asking about retailers in America having it in stock.

MP3/WMA/OGG, BMP/JPG/GIF ---- YES
MPEG4/MPEG2/WMV/H263/264/RM(VB) in 720 x 480 px an the TV Output ---- No this is the M6SL, those specifications were to be included in the preposed M6SE which now it seems may become the new Miniplayer M7 estimated for release around the first quarter of 2008.

This announcement was probably a response to apple, their biggest competitor in China.

so wait the new M7

ARg, ok... But I don't want the M6SL, I want a M7 for the support of all movies format, in original size with tv output. Too bad I have to wait now for the 1stQ of 2008

Wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these if my M6 breaks. (Which probably will be in another 5 years or so...:D)

The top "Button" is a lock. There is no more play/pause/power button, that is being replaced with the one on the touchstrip. From earlier pictures we saw that there was not a lock switch on the bottom of the player, in this picture, we can see it is on the top.

I used a photo edit software to zoom in on the lock switch at the top to see for myself.

Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod 4G Monochrome 20GB, iPod Video 5G 80GB, iPod Photo 30GB, iPod Touch 1G 8GB, Sandisk Sansa m240 2GB, Thompson TMS T-F10E 256MB, and no, I'm not an Apple Fanboy (I merely like fixing electronics, and iPods being the most readily available...). If you could get all the iPods that I own for $100 would'nt you go for it?

The Meizu M6/M6SL rocks but:

- FLV (YouTube, Metacafe, etc [and quick&free ffmpeg avi-to-flv]) is a must-have (I don't care about WMV/H264/RM)

- TV out is a must-have (GP2X-like) and video conversion should be a thing of the past, just install a better video processor/DSP/whatever

- FLAC (loseless) is enough, I don't understand the need for APE

- Replaceable Nokia-compatible battery is *mandatory* (classic BL-5C [bluetooth GPS-like] or the BL-5F [Nokia N95]...)

I won't buy the M6SL and I'm not sure if i will buy the M6SE or the M8, but... Meizu company rocks and all Meizu products rock.

Oh, excellent. Is this still likely to come out Q4 this year?

An excellent next step for Meizu, however I wont be buying the SL. Not too much of an upgrade from my M6. I will look into the M7 however. Until then, like most people, im waiting for the M8
