Meizu M8 Approaching - 8GB Model To Be Released First
With the Meizu M8 approaching, we have some new details regarding the release. In a recent forum posting by CEO J. Wong, it was revealed that the 8GB 2.75G model would be released first and priced at 2999 CNY (approximately $400 USD). This is an 499 CNY (around $70 USD) increase from the previously stated price of 2500 CNY (approx. $330 USD).

It is said that the other models featuring other capacities and support for 3G/3.5G will be released during the "second phase", which we interpret as the second quarter of 2008.

damn a price icrease of 70 dollars, though it is still a cheap and nice looking phone in comparisiing to the iphone

How high would the price be in europe? Not higher then €400,- i hope?

God. Can't wait until the bugs are stomped and my contract with SPrint is up so I can get me one of these.

BTW, I've played with iPhones and I'm not impressed.

$400 is still very cheap, any top end sony-ericsson or nokia handset will cost a a lot more than this and have no where near this spec (particlarly in the video playback and codec support department). At the moment there are no handsets i'm aware of offering a 720x480 touch screen display and .avi support and 8gb of flash inside plus wifi and all the rest of it, let alone at this price. Lets remember also that meizu's distribution channels out side china are pretty limited to say the least. Once this makes it out of china (even if brought from chinese based online stores that ship worldwide) you will almost certainly see another price hike up. Dunno if I can wait till q2 2008 for a 16gb model, I don't need 3g so might have to go with the 8gb version when it drops, as long as it has wifi. I'm estimating a cost of around $450+ outside china. I prey it has usb otg support too.

rather steep price for a phone thats not the fully featured version..(no3G etc) buts tillc ool

lets wait and see what comes out

Yeah, if it will be good, then it will be worth it...idk tho...maybe a price drop in the future like on the M6?
