This is a discussion on Dane-Elec and their Custom European Firmware within the Meizu News forums, part of the Meizu Me category; I think the easiest way for them to tell if the device has been upgraded is by the start up ...

Can Meizu please get a firmware out that doesn't involve taking away features that are good?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsNo restriction on volume or radio does not necessarily mean that you are free to upgrade the firmware without voiding the warranty. This is something that will need to be worked out by Dane-Elec and Meizu and clearly communicated to their customers. Once I get mine I'll start sending out inquiries.

actually upgrading your firmware with the original one is authorized, as long as it works, the warranty won't be canceled. If you're meizu does'nt work anymore because of an internal problem and not the firmware, you won't have any problem with your supplier, and he will take it back and send it to dane-elec... but if the problem comes from the firmware, well dane-elec won't do anything for you...
so be careful when you do the upgrade, everything is explained on the site
To sum up : there's no problem to upgrade as long as it works

@parish: regarding your comment:
Left in response to:
Yes, you're right but, please read the thread carefully before posting your thoughts. I meant the players sold by Wallgreens.com in the US dont have the volume restriction and radio disabled, but the players sold in Europe have such restrictions, i didn't refer to upgrades in that post.Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsMarcelo,
I don't understand your response and why you think I was criticising you. I did read the entire thread and know you didn't refer to upgrades. I thought I was just adding to your comment because some of us are worried about firmware upgrades in general, not just with regard to removing EU restrictions.
I will definitely think carefully about posting...

Hi everyone. I've recieved quite a few emails regarding this topic/thread. Just to clarify for everyone, the Meizu M6 sold through miniplayer.info is distributed through Dane Elec in the US. It has no restrictions on volume, it plays MP3's, and the FM radio function is fully functional.
I do agree that Meizu and Dane Elec should be more clear on which versions are distributed in which countries. It's very confusing for everyone
Thanks!

Thre are several things we have to know before writing to Dane-Elec or Meizu regarding Firmware Updates on Dane-Elec branded players:
1- Dane-Elec specs for the player: Find them here... the strange thing is, firmware upgradeable is not part of their specs and could be interpreted in two different ways:
- They won't launch firmware upgrades because their firmware is stable and according to specs (which i dont think is true b/c they say it supports DRM 10).
- You're open to use a Meizu firmware since the Important Tips section on the player is exactly the same on Dane-Elec and Meizu firmwares and stated there: "Please Access www.meizu.com to Upgrade the Player with the Latest Software." (can dane-elec owners confirm this? Main Menu -> Settings -> Important Tips)
2- Dane-Elec warranty: It's on Dane-Elec page, and defines wich situations are not covered by warranty: link, unfortunatelly it says:
"- Failure is caused by software or hardware components not installed by Dane-Elec." which could mean firmware and skins found on this site or meizu site.
Just for further information, for those who got a Dane-Elec version, does the Resources CD come with a normal tools such as DFU and/or any version of firmware?Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

The 1.010, the last one from the official site, will give you full sound and radio

This has ever been said several times in this board

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI bought a 1 GB miniplayer some weeks ago in Germany and flashed it with the original firmware from meizus website (version S 1.010). Nevertheless I still cannot increase the volume over 33 and there is no radio option in the menu.
Any suggestions?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt is in the FAQ: http://www.meizume.com/index.php?page=faq
So you need to put both files in the root directory. The resource.bin is only for skin, language and other stuff.

I had received a Samsung Z5 for Santa-clausss And i did not like it 'cause :
