Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsin the car i would put it on but then i could stay charging my battery from with in the car so the battery aint an issue...
I don't like separated devices if i would buy a phone like this. These phones want to combine everything and then i don't like to miss options i would love to use. Also I could use it in some cities when using national traffic to find a location. I wouldn't have it on for hours... and a bringing a separated device would just annoy me.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAnd this compromise (always when you squeeze more tech into a device you are compromising on something, in today's GPS phones you compromise on both SIZE, PERFORMANCE OF GPS and BATTERY TIME) would give you what benefit(s)?
Do you have a seperate large(er) screen you ever hook up?
Do you have a seperate sound/subwoofer system you ever hook up?
Do you have a separate (BT) handsfree device you ever hook up?
..and so on and so on
You could just continue to use Google maps or other maping systems manually, no problem. With today's technology (or let's say cost of it to retail customers) you just can't get decent priced devices with good GPS AND batterytime into this kind of size (without removing some other vital features). I predict it will be another few years before we get there, perhaps the LCD screen integrated with solarcell which is in the making might solve some of this along with newer gen. battery tech.?
As much as I love all-in-one (but hate comprimising) having tried MOST upscale pocketable devices of today with and without GPS' builtin it's not a realistic solution at this time.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe Fujitsu Siemens Loox N100 has a as far as I know decent GPS chip integrated, and it's tiny. I see no problem in adding such a chip to the M8 at all. The SiRF III was pretty good when integrated into a normal PDA/PNA already, and I think there is a new version out. As for battery life... doesn't matter. The chip surely can be deactivated when not in use, and when in use it's usually in the car, where you plug it into the cars battery anyway. The only problem would be the added price for the actual hardware... and I'd like the M8 to be as cheap as possible. Having it as an add on (but one that can be inserted into the phone if possible) would be nice therefore.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsBut 40% THICKER than the 11.5mm thin Meizu M8
It is so ironic there is a bunch of people out there that oppose having a seperate BT GPS reciever in the car, but when you present them with the BATTERY ISSUE of a builtin GPS, most of them will make this comment about you being in the car "anyway", and that is JUST MY POINT :D
Since you MOST of the time will be in the car ANYWAY, why "ruin" the nice device's price, size, batterytime with something that has more cons than pros? I mean the very same BT reciever CAN work in a "walking around" situation too since they are battery (rechargeble) operated also!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI think you've misunderstood my posts, and the agenda for posting them

First off there are many portable GPS recievers that run on their own battery/solar power/plugin to car 12v or all of the above. So as I already pointed out above you van take it along when wanted/needed.
My comments are merly to try to compare the pros and cons of having a GPS unit builtin and not builtin. Also as I've pointed out I've owned both solutions, so its not just like I don't want/need it, its just in todays PDA/smartphone world you're forced to chose and decide what you will compromise on, that's just the fact of life for now.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIf the final production phone of the miniOne is to be believed then Meizu will see themselves as a major player in many markets.
One thing that does puzzle me is the redesign, as shown in a previous post by ErrOr.
Meizu M8 miniOne Redesigned
He had said that the M button at the bottom of the phone has been changed and yet the pictures from todays thread still show it. Have Meizu changed their minds again and changed it back?
Best wishes

I can't stand people like Negri Electronics. They give people who don't know a wrong view of what the Meizu M8 will be. Also I have no respect for them because they apparently like to rip people off out of a lot of money.

I'm really looking forward to the release of the M8, but will not be purchasing one until there are reliable reviews on this site. I have had an M6 for some months now and am still experiencing stuttering at the end of songs. If Meizu can't make an MP3 player that plays MP3s properly, how are they going to make a phone with all kinds of other features?
Don't get me wrong, I love my M6, I just wish it worked in the way it was designed.
