Meizu Spills More Info On The Upcoming M6 SE

A recent forum posting by Meizu CEO contains lot of new information on the upcoming Meizu Mini Player M6 Second Edition

The M6 SE is an improved version of the M6, featuring a 7mm thin body (down from 10mm), support for MPEG4, MPEG2, WMV9, H263/264, RM(VB) videos in 720x480 pixel resolution at 30 FPS and TV Out. It will also eliminate the need of conversion to playback videos.

The viewing angle has been improved from 60, 60, 55, 45 degrees to 80, 80, 80, 80 degrees together with a tiny screen enlargement of 0.01 inches (now 2.41 inches) and judging by the picture above, the actual button layout of the M6 SE might also see changes. On the original M6, there was a hold switch on the bottom side.

With its 600mAh battery, it will support up to 30 hours of continuous music playback, 5 hours of QVGA and 3 hours VGA video playback.

The M6 SE is set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2007. However, Meizu CEO warns of possible delays. The development of the M3 SE has been suspended in order to hasten the development of the Meizu M6 SE and Meizu M8.

I want one! :D Good to see that it will have a 600 mAh battery and not lower! I might get one if there will be a 4Gb version, if not, I will just get a regular M6 4gb because they are so cheap now.

Wow, those improvements are amazing! Meizu really has a way of making exactly what people want. (Sounds cheesy, but really!...)

This is like having a video player in your shirt pocket... Want to see a new movie [or four] at your friend's house? Just plug it into the TV and play!

And the resolution is actually doubled... so four times more pixels. I'm thrilled!

I don't think it's the screen resolution that's doubled, but rather the maximum supported video resolution. I'm not quite sure.

hum... i would guess that the screen resolution is the same (320x240). i'm not sure a much higher resolution would be of much use unless you like looking at a screen six inches from your face.

i can't wait for the m8!!

Holy crap, how will it have a video out circuit when it's already this small and crammed?!? I'll be waiting for this sucker to show up to see how well it fares. *hopes it has individual volume buttons*

that takes up that much room? i thought you didn't need that much more hardware for video out, their not putting in another jack right?, just using the audio jack for video out like video ipods right?

Then it'll be around the same release time for the MiniOne. Weird... I'll probably go for miniOne still but this SE version sure sounds seductive :D

I noticed you also live in Australia, where are you planning on buying either M6se or MiniOne from? Will the MiniOne work in Australia?

Great - i think my M6 4gb needs more storage space. With just a bare minimum of must have music it is completely full - so no videos.
And no conversion will make life much easier, and tv-out could be usefull. (I am amazed how well this works on my digital camera)
So a M6se with at least 8gb might be my next player.
Especially if the hiss problem is solved.

So the SE definitely stands for "Second Edition" then and not "special edition".

This is actually quite an upgrade and I just might have to get an 8gb when it comes out (have a 4gb regular M6 now)
