Beside a better viewing angle, J Wong, the CEO of Meizu, recently describe some other exciting new feature of M6se:
    TV OUT!
    Support MPEG4, MPEG2, WMV9, H263/264, RM/RMVB
    720*480 in 30 FPS
Because the screen resolution will keep as QVGA, this new feature is mainly designed for TV OUT funciton. The target of m6se is easy video and music anywhere.
Drag and Play. (It means you don’t need to reencodage your movie before you play it in M6se. You can directly sent it to your M6se, and then play it! )

With a 600mAH battery. Up to 30 Hours of Continuous Music Playback, 5 Hours of Continuous QVGA Video Playback, 3 Hours of Continuous VGA Video Playback.

Unfortunately, because more hard work is needed to realize the significant improvement of video playback, the release date is dealyed to Q4(The engineers are trying to make M6se available in the fourth quarter of 2007, instead of the former expected August. And more delay is possible.).

At last, J Wong has explained ‘se’ as the abbreviation of Second Edition.

These news come from the officially BBS of Meizu (in Chinese).

I think with the above improvement, M6se do not just a thin edition of M6.

    Good spec

Thanks for your news, the new meizu'll be very very good, he'll be a div-X player with the TV-OUt and no need for a reencodage of the videos.
My M6 is almost dead, I think i'll buy a new one with the second edition :d

Ah, thanks for the news, now I know I will wait for it to come with all new features.

What do you mean by Q4? do you mean that its coming out in the fourth quarter of the year?

Wow. Ok, so anyone else think its definitely safe to say that the new SE will have different, better hardware, or could it be that it will be using highly optimized standard M6 firmware?

    Question

oo ic thnks but what does q4 mean?
so that means later than august '07?
if its delayed, will these new features and 4gbs be worth the wait?
i mean they arent totally indispensable. but it could just be me...

Well if that is true about the new M6SE specs , I will wait to buy one, looks like its the answer to my post about making video a lot faster 30fps and direct encoding.

didn't it say 30fps is only for TV out? so are there any good changes if u dnt care about TV out? cus tv vid tak up more space if they higher resolution right?

what does this mean? about the screen?

I am sure if the processor is so much faster they will want to max out FPS to 30 fps for LCD too. creative, iriver, cowan all do 30 fps too. Remeber the M6 spec was 15fps, but later firmware increased it to 20fps. 10 fps more will be no problem. They want easy video which is 30fps on both displays , higher res on TV out

You will be able to encode to 320x240 or the new 720*480 manually , LCD will just half the pixel count of 720*480 TV out, you may loose 40 pixels per side, and it will double pixel count for of 320x240 LCD to generate TV out.

It will also direct encode to match the above 2 formats, looks like they will be including a customized version on memcoder in the firmware.

It would be good if Meizu released the spec in English.

In fact, there is no officially released spec of M6se in Chinese. The news I translated is a collection of J Wong’s word in a discussion about M6se. In Meizu BBS, the guy whose id is J Wong is recognized as the CEO of Meizu, but the lawyer of Meizu had pointed out that all J Wong’s word in Meizu BBS is just the opinion presented by ordinary member of Meizu BBS, can not be seen as the officially declare or promises of Meizu… (many words you can image in a lawyer’s declare)

what do they mean by "Drag and Play. (It means you don’t need to reencodage your movie before you play it in M6se. You can directly sent it to your M6se, and then play it! ) "

does that mean i dont have to convert my vids and just throw it into the player and it will play?
i have an old 4gigger and my sis wants to get one tonight....
but if that is what they are doing to m6, ill definitly tell her to wait it out....
as she isnt as good with cpu programing stuff
