Is the display that previously mentioned Sharp one? Why is it better/worse compared to the competiors, like amoled, s-amoled, retina etc..?

The ASV screen isn't so well known yet, and except the pictures in The screen of Meizu M9? there aren't any comparisons with other types of technologies. But Sharp makes really high quality products, so the screen of M9 will be as good or even better than the one on iPhone 4. And the IPS technology in the Retina display makes the screen as good as Super AMOLED screens...

Thanked 19 Times in 13 PostsI couldn't see what android version it supported, but I'm guessing 2.2. Is that correct?
Does it have 8GB/16GB internal memory and support 32GB MicroSD? I remember JW saying it would not have any internal memory.

Woah! Looking super crispy! Wonder when we will actually see it in the real world.....
The thing is while I think meizu has definitely stepped their game up and the M9 looks very nice I have come to the conclusion that my next phone will probably be a pure android phone, maybe the nexus s.
I am strongly of the opinion that OEM customizations add to the ever present Lag you see on android devices. I was shocked when I used the HTC desire HD and found the transitions jerky and generally not amazingly smooth considering the spec.
The nexus S under 2.3 has apparently improved on these things but now I don't really trust anyone but google to create the software. Memory leaks, battery draining widgets, poorly implemented overlays can all effect performance and while they may add some good functionality, the android OS needs to be more tightly controlled and regulated IMO because it is messing up the user experience.Last edited by sere83; 12-15-2010 at 12:32 PM.

Thanked 34 Times in 21 Poststhe basic amoled screen is shall be a thing of the past really soon. the sunlight visibility was terrible of these panels, and also they had some other issues too. samoled is better, but the colors are usually over-saturated (not natural looking), and it cannot display the full rgb truecolor palette properly (in certain cases you can see stripes appear in pictures), and also because they use pentile matrix arrangement, the effective resolution of the panel is smaller than is written on the specs sheet (usually wvga panels have around 6xx by 3xx effective resolution), and also they white color on samoled is usually somewhat turning into blueish. so for now, inspite of all the marketing going on from Samsung, these screens are not nearly the best out there.
IPS is much better in many terms (has the proper effective resolution, higher maximum brightness, better color palette, closer to real colors, etc), and from what i have heard, ASV is also something similar to that, except that it's developed by Sharp alone (while IPS is used by many manufacturers, like LG). so i'm pretty confident about the screen quality of the M9.略懂

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt is in fact very well known in Asia where Japanese phones are sold. The technology dates back 10 years ago where it first appeared on lcd monitors and then cell phones, famous for boasting 170 degrees of viewing angle, good response time and vivid color representation, though the viewing angle seems to be what remains most outstanding today.
Um... can anyone kindly tell me what 3G frequency bands does the m9 support? It's not on the official website. I'm looking to use it in North America, or to even import a small bunch and sell it here :PLast edited by bananakid; 12-15-2010 at 05:33 PM.
