In some of his recent posts on Meizu forum, J. Wong was talking about an updated version of M9 (which has not been released yet) called M9mini with smaller dimensions and 3,36" display, and also a product called mBook which would be a 8,4" (1024x768 resolution) tablet with Android operating system and ARM processor. No release date had been announced yet...

Thanked 26 Times in 18 PostsInteresting. The M9mini should be cheaper too, unfortunately the screen would be too small for a touch screen, IMO, especially with the SIP.

Jack was asking whether we'd rather see a M9mini or an mBook if they were the same price. Personally, I'd take the mBook with a larger screen.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 24 Times in 15 PostsM9mini would have a 3.36" Screen according to the news above and I can tell you: I have no problems using my LG KU990Viewty with 3.0"Touchscreen! So 3.36 or even less wont be too small!
Personally I wouldnt mind any of both devices. The m9mini might be a cool idea and so may be the mBook, although it will get a lot of hate from the Apple-fanboys ... "oh look its just another apple copy"...
Meizu shouldnt bother with this though since Apple wasn´t the one to invent the tablet PC and as we´ve seen with the iPad even fails at delivering a good tablet. (No multitasking? Hah... stick it in your *** apple!)Last edited by 2nd_GEnesIS; 03-27-2010 at 02:27 PM.

Thanked 14 Times in 9 Postsi would loooooove to see the mBook but just make it 10" or even 12" i would definitely buy the 12" one if they made it and arm based tablet means that they will go for an ARM9 cortex dual processor which is the standard these days in all the newly announced tablets ... possibly tegra 250 chipset will be on board too ...
anyway i would take the mBook over the m9 and m9mini !
cuz i love my m8 !
as for the android Os on the mBook that proves that google abndnng china got nothing to do with Android Os which is good ! and i support china and its cens0r sh1p ! i think they are doing the right thing ! why does google care if a country censor some of the search results ? only if they are trying to inject something that jeopardizes ones privacy and personal information ... oh google google google ...

Thanked 50 Times in 30 Posts@silent-neo: let's keep politics out of this, ok? Thanks.
If Meizu manages to make a good tablet with a good UI, then I would love to buy it! Anything but Apple! :-)
The M9mini would probably be to the M9 what the Nokia N97mini is to the normal N97. So you'd basically have a small and a large version of the same phone, which is pretty useless in my opinion. They'd better focus on a good M9 and a good tablet, not some mini version of a half-decent phone.
But seriously, it sort of puzzles me how they can be fantasizing about future hardware (or: 2nd gen editions of not-yet-released hardware) when their current phone still has a buggy firmware...Last edited by d3lt4; 03-27-2010 at 02:41 PM.

For a tablet, web browsing is of very high importance. Meizu need to really improve the browser if they are to release mBook...

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsI don't want both.
I want a M9.
Think of this:
Meizu has some programmers.
If we want a tablet or a M9mini, some programmers will have to leave the M9 'project' and focus on the mBook or M9mini.
So both M9 and mBook/M9mini would have the delays and bad software.
That is a no-go for me.....
First, make a decent M9, then start dreaming about a new product.Ben je Nederlands?

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsI do recall the same words..
A tablet is not a good idea since there are to many tablets available out there especially in China.
Before it could become a realy succes they would need to have a really decent OS without bugs & based on mymobile to keep it simple. I can´t see that happen very fast.
Without this it won´t be interesting due the big competation like the ipad / slate / marvell 100dollar tablet.
If i were Meizu i would create 2 new phones; the M9 & M9 mini.
Place some interesting stuff in the m9 like led flash, tv out, big amoled screen,+1ghz cpu, ... all the needed stuff to be a high end smartphone.
On the otherhand make a low level M9mini with a smaller screen & less options this to be a budget phone.
At the moment that they would launch it they should pull the plug out of the m8 serie´s and provide needed stuff(technical details) for fans to keep on working with it like for example to run android on it. It would give Meizu a very friendly face.
Anyway that is just my idea since i do not see the point of a tablet if i could just use a decent smartphone or a decent portable..
