Can you tell me how the battery is attached? When looking at this picture it doesn't seem that "fixed" if you know what I mean

The L-shaped plastic panel surrounding the lower part of the battery covers the connecting wires. Removing the screws holding down the panel "breaks" the finish on the screws (a warranty no-no, I suppose), but once that's done it's pretty easy to disconnect the battery.
And here's a handy play-by-play; click on pics to move ahead in the slideshow:

looks like the battery isn't removable at all.
the more difficult thing than removing it is to find/get a replacementMX-HK, M9, M8, M6SL

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsBy the looks of chengdude's link, removing the battery shouldn't be a problem. I am quite confident that cloned replacement batteries will start to appear in a few months or even weeks.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThanks Chengdude, after removing the screws it looks pretty easy indeed. Let's hope JouleThomson is right about the clones (with bigger mAh's)
And the screws... well, to me it looks as if they either used the wrong size of screwdriver or screwed the wrong way around :P

Which all begs the question why they made it non-replaceable in the first place....an homage to the big A? Joking aside, I think it's probably to do with discouraging clone battery manufacturers..and TBH if the quality of the M9's battery is anything to go by, it most likely won't need to be changed.
The micro-sim thing is baffling though, if you look at the teardown, I'm sure they could have fitted a full size one in there.
The lack of SD? Well a lot of manufacturers are going this way, perhaps due to the limited lifespan of sdcards, speed compatibility (my M9 doesn't like class 10 cards very much), quality control etc.Last edited by Straylight; 02-02-2012 at 08:51 AM.

I think skipping the SD card slot has to do more with safing money. It is all about money, so if you sell 100.000 units and you can safe 0,50$ per unit, you have a plus of 50.000$, simple as that. And they kind of justify this move by saying 'you don't need a SD anymore, you can store everything in the cloud'.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI think cloud-like services might become a big thing in the future and while 16GB is on the low side, I don't think I'll be watching 720p movies on a 4" screen.
The SD chip is build very deep inside the phone 魅族MX 主板背面拆解_IT168, but it looks a lot bigger than a micro-SD

02-02-2012 #29Well quite; I think the world is still figuring out what it wants such devices for, hence some phones and tablets are converging in size. We're going to reach a stage fairly soon I think where the tech outruns the application, and we'll be able to do anything on any form-factor. I think then the market will fragment into niche products, instead of lots of manufacturers all trying to essentially do the same thing.I don't think I'll be watching 720p movies on a 4" screen.

It is the symbol for a persistent notification. IE for an app that has quick access from the notification pull down menu.
