Line up for MEIZU MX 4-core

Today is the big day: the Meizu MX 4-core is finally launched. Reason enough for many fans to line up in front of the stores to be one of the first to grab one. Even the bad weather could not stop them. This phenomen could nearly be called a tradition as we could see it already at the launch of the M9 and the MX 2-core.

Interesting that the Meizu forum is pretty quiet today; I guess everyone's too busy buying and playing with their new 4-core toy.

They chalked up around 120,000 posts last week on the day of the official announcement, while today looks to be less than half that when it's all said and done.

I wonder if this model is throw resistant, for the times it just doesn't work and you need to release frustration.

Visited the Meizu Store in Hong Kong to placed a $300HKD deposit on the new quad core 32gb phone. I am an iphone 4 owner, here's my review.

    Design:
Like many other said, it looks like an iphone, but bigger. It doesn't really have it's own characteristic. I get used to iphone's glass back cover, so meizu backcover definitely feels cheap. The volumn and power buttons have horrible feedback, my brain keeps telling me, is this a downgrade...is this a downgrade?

    Screen:
Some say it's not as sharp as the HDAMOLED, which is true. I blame the flyme OS design doesn't use great colourful combination like the Samsung or HTC OS interface. I put my iphone4 side by side with same webpage and then open up Angrybird, the colour is as good as the iphone.

    Speed:
My gf just bought a S3, without looking at the benchmark, it feels not as quick as S3. There's still some laggy scrolling. Meizu definitely needs to work harder on the flyme OS.

btw, the Hong Kong Meizu store is awful....stinky.

It's right beside the stinky tofu shop, and the whole meizu store is filled with that smell. horrible location to pick.

I have been to the meizu store of my district. I tried the 4-core, its feels a bit laggy for a quad-core, but it looks nice so whatever..., i didn't mind and choose to buy it (but i was not very confident because we all know meizu about software... and there will never be custom roms), time to buy, i ask my 700rmb discount cause i give them my old M8. Surprise, they didnt want to apply the discount before 15th july...

So today, i have no Meizu mx in my pocket, but an Alcatel AK47 (OT986 or S900), and im more than happy with it (ICS vanilla), waiting for the CM9 or Miui custom ROM.

I have paid 300HKD for the deposit for the 64GB. They called me and told me that the 64GB will come out on the 20th of July. I did not see this coming from Meizu... I am a bit disappointed... But I think the phone will live up to my expectation. Until they I will just have to read the reviews for now.

On the first day, they were telling people already that the 64GB wait time is 3 weeks (32GB will be 1 week time). Did you and the salesperson miss that part?

btw, tried out the new quad again at Meizu store

The speaker(s) are poor, I turned up to an audile level, they distort and the backcover rattles. The ranking should go like this "MX...4S..GS3"

They never told me about the wait time. I called the Sales and Marketing Manager in Hong Kong (Sierra Ma) today she said she will call me first thing when it arrives. She also told me the sales person should have told me about the wait time. I was so exited... I have already bought the screen protector and case... that's is how exited I am.

Not only that, but you can mod the GS3 speaker to be louder via software. Also, Supercurio is working on Voodoo, so it'll unlock more features of the Wolfson DAC, and allow cool features like DAC direct, and headphone amplification.
