It's basically saying don't expect an ICS update anytime soon. Next firmware update will most likely be 2.3. No ETA available for either update though

Thanked 34 Times in 21 Postsmight not be that bad. but i'm really curious how they will solve the USB connection. under 4.x there is no mass storage support anymore, only MTP, which works on windows boxes, has solution under osx, but not all that great under linux :/ so far the MX's internal memory is divided into two parts: one for the applications, and another part that can be used similarly to memory card. if they don't support mass storage anymore, there's no point in keeping these parts separated anymore, so i'm wondering how they will solve the issue.
i'd love to stay with mass storage, since open source blokes aren't really keen on solving mtp problems sadly...略懂

Ah come on…
It is not that easy. How many devices got an ICS update yet? 5?
Be patient. You can realy not blame Meizu for slow updates!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI dont't konow why it's so important to get an ICS on the MX. The actual Firmware runs perfect. I have updated my HTC HD2 with the Nexus version of ICS. It's not bad, but I like the MX Firmware more, because it looks more high grade.
By the way, I can't find any feature on the ICS which is really special...

It is not the point that the update will take some time, but lwhat is going on my nerves is that they never realease a reliable date for release. Always guesswork. That's why these guesswork threads are all over meizume

02-10-2012 #10My understanding is this is true for the Galaxy Nexus, but otherwise it's totally up to the manufacturer. Dropping MSC support in favor of MTP-only would be suicide for Android in China. No one uses MTP here.under 4.x there is no mass storage support anymore, only MTP,
Another reason to stick with Meizu...IMHOanother reason to switch to an other company (IMHO)

Interesting (and short) article on the subject of ICS storage: Ice Cream Sandwich supports USB mass storage after all, Galaxy Nexus does not - Engadget.
The MX has a separate volume for user data (as I understand it - correct me if I'm wrong), and the M9 has its SDcard, so I doubt there's anything to worry about on this score.
My guess is what's taking so long is adapting FlyMe OS to the new APIs of Android 4.0, as there were strong hints that the vanilla option was all but completely stable over a month ago, and of course they wouldn't release the vanilla option first, as it would probably kill FlyMe altogether (at least temporarily) given the current clamour for FW updates on the BBS (IMHO).
EDIT: I stand corrected! They are going to release the Vanilla version first - yay!Last edited by Straylight; 02-12-2012 at 09:43 AM.

Thanked 34 Times in 21 Postsunder windows7 you wouldn't even notice. at least that's what is experienced with my Xoom. you plug it in, and it appears as a device in the file browser. the problems come if you're using some other operating system, like linux or bsd...
iceman#1: it's a little annoying, that you keep this up in every topic
seriously, how many other devices have been updated? or how many manufacturers announced an exact release date? the closest was something like "2012Q2, if we feel like it" from Sony i think. the others were even less specific about update dates.

I can totally agree with that... Right now, I'm using a LG Optimus P970 White. It was released in July 11 with Android 2.2. LG promised to release 2.3 as soon as possible. First it was end of July, then August, then nothing. Somehow it was released 2 or 3 weeks ago. Actually I didn't give a damn about that - fortunately there are some decent Android "developers" on XDA...
Meizu's update policy is not that bad in my opinion.

I think perhaps they should take the time to comment more on rumours, either to confirm of deny. As it is, you just get a hint of an upgrade, and then a lot of speculation which leads to dissapointment. If say, when the 'leaked' shots of vanilla ICS appeared they made some definitive statement about their intentions and schedule, I think people would have less to moan about. Even if it was only a rough plan, it would only take them a couple of minutes every so often to keep people happily informed.

Well spank me sideways, they made an announcement :
Google Translate (post #35)the android 4.0 preliminary plan is this:
Moonrise m9 private beta, to convene the part of the user experience
Released the public beta in March, the above is the native version.
Meizu customized version after April there will be
Specific details, please pay attention to the recent Moderator release of information
Interestingly there's no mention of a release for the MX, I suppose they want to see how well it is accepted on the M9 first.Last edited by Straylight; 02-12-2012 at 09:40 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts"explaining that Ice Cream Sandwich does indeed support the feature, but only on devices that offer removable storage cards"
Does the MX have a seperate partition? If not it might not work on it either
