    Hi,

    I confirm M8 --> M9 exchange is possible.

I was planning to do it today, in ShenYang.
I called the phone (1st one in the list) and said in english: "Meizu M8 M9 exchange, possible? Yes or no?", and answer was "yes".
Then, I talked to a friend to prepare my departure for the shop and she said she'd like to have a phone like mine, so I told her I will not do the thone exchange and will give her my M8 for free.
I'll buy the M9 at that time.

there is also an official exchange information on the Chinese Meizu website, that leads to the Meizu bbs:

Feb 2009 was for Meizu M8 Black 8GB (without WiFi) ... did an exchange for Meizu M9 Black 8GB in May 2011

    Thumbs up

*** update of my previous post ***

I did do an M8 --> M9 exchange today in ShenYang.

After being arrived in the shop (not easy to find, not the one mentioned on the MEIZU website) they confirmed me the conditions of the exchange: my M8 (phone + battery) + 1800 RMB = M9 (with 8 Gb SD card).

The deal took about 15 min (I don't speak chinese, and they don't speak english).

They wrote down the phone serial number and the battery serial number onto a bill, took my money and asked me if I wanted them to test the phone. I said 'yes'.
They did put the SD card, my SIM card and started the phone, chose English for GUI language and it was working fine (battery was about half full).

I asked for a protection plastic film (50 RMB). They put it one, very carefully.

So, now I am a happy new M9 user

congratulations. the film they placed on mine at the Meizu shop at ZhongShangGongYuan@Shanghai last month is not of good quality. there are bubbles and scratch marks now.

you should have asked to upgrade to 16GB SD Card especially if you will store some videos. but anyway, you can get one at any electronics/computer or camera shop.

what's the FW and BB on it?

the shop of zhongshang Gongyuan @ Shanghai is not the best of the city :/ If you go XuJiaHui, It's already much better

On both shop, they told me that to exchange my M8 for a M9, my M8 should be broken...

Pierrehenry, did your M8 was broken? Anyone else did change his mobile?

Yeah the auto brightness setting is rubbish. Install a widget to adjust the backlight.

My M8 just died. The known touchscreen problem is now affecting me to...
I did the lighter trick once, but as foretold, it only lasts for a little bit of time
And 200 euro for a M9 isn't that much money...
But I already opened the phone, so I doubt they will accept my M8 for the exchange program...
Is there any solution for me at the moment?

    What??? You opened the phone?????

Hum... I can try to ask them next week (sorry can't do it before) I'm in Business trip.

PierreHenry (french?) said, it's possible to change for a M9 even if the M8 is working well. So I will change mine next week.

Do you have the good screwdriver to open your M8? If it's not too much destroyed, it may pass

Yes I opened the phone. I have no warranty anymore anyway, so I didn't care :P
The touchscreen isn't working anymore, which I was expecting a long time ago. I guess my M8 also has the bad touchscreen after all...
    I opened it with a torx 5 or 6 screwdriver and a tiny '+'-screwdriver.
I opened it with care, you know
I hope I can still exchange it, since part of the touchscreen still works OK, only the lower half of the touchscreen is a bit dead/unresponsive.

I think defect M8s can be exchanged too. Wouldn't make much sense if only working ones are accepted since they are not going to use them anyway.

I traded mine in today as well. Beijing, ZGC. No problem - only question: what is wrong with M8? I said: nothing but 慢

    Happy with my m9 now!
    Thanks Meizu!

My sis traded mine in yesterday, but got a call today telling her she was given the box by mistake, and had to return it.

Did any of you guys who traded in your m8 leave with the m9 box?

I did just gave a working M8 with its battery + 1800 RMB, and Meizu gave me back a completely new M9 product. They opened the box in front of me, removed the stickers, opened the phone, installed the microSD card, my SIM card and the battery, started the phone and set english for me. After that they install the plastic film on the screen, and I left the phone with a box and a working M9 phone.

No, they wanted to keep the box to send it in to Meizu. I didn't mind, since I will never use it anyways

And even though I tried to bargain (com'on, we are in China!) - no way to get some free stuff on top (I speak Chinese. Or at least I think I speak Chinese)

    Greetings,

I speak for Beijing, the ZGC store:
Yeah, I just got a new phone, out of the box - only without the box (see above). Everything else was just like I'd buy a new phone.
I brought my old M8 without anything else but the battery, they made a back-up, transfered it to my new m9, erased the old data from the m8, wrote down some numbers, I paid 1799 RMB, they gave me all that stuff which was in the box, explained the customer service (after sale services, warranties, etc.). Very friendly guys over there, nice people..
