Yesterday JW said they will update the system to 2.3 but it has to wait until the release.

    why would you do so?
i think it is not a huge problem to make a original android version for m9 for an experieced user when it is finally released if that was your point

    nope,
Google on edit apk xda to find some howto's.

    example : http://www.xda-developers.com/androi...k-manager-4-4/

    basicly explained:
-extract an . apk with 7zip
    -edit images/xml file
    -repack it all.

There are plenty of tools/procedures how you can achieve this, all it takes is time.

    yeah...he also promised a 1.0 firmware for M8!!
...but to be honest and fair, it shouldn┤t be that difficult to update these custom roms! i think Cyanogen, MIUI, Kangorama etc. will do it aswell!

Safe bet is that 2.3 comes to the M9 sometime after the Chinese New Year holiday...let's say sometime in March.

After Google enjoys its brief window of exclusivity with the Nexus S and Nexus One, it dribbles out to other manufacturers into the New Year. Meanwhile Meizu is dealing with rolling out the M9. Then Chinese New Year hits, so everything slows down or stops completely and the end of January/first half of February is gone. Give them about a month or so and voila, March.

    OK, maybe April.

    I dont think so.
I have read one announcement that j. Wong 'thought' about testing the Android firmware on the M8 to have a better base for the M9 but that was soon dismissed when he announced that all ressources where concentrated on the M9 and development for the M8 would pause at least until the M9 was released.

Personaly i do not think Meizu will release a official Android firmware for the M8.

well guys, at least now we have an M9 image on our M8 that works. It arrived to us through "not official" ways, but anyways it arrived! And frankly speaking, seeing how the M9 FW looks like, I really can't wait to get a real one in my hands!
