Well....been an age since I lasted posted here....
I'm liking the look of the M9's custom UI, mind you I also liked the look of the M8's UI. Their UI design has always been on point.
My main issue with the m9 is the size of the screen. 3.5 is OK, not a disatser or anything but when you see the 4.1 inch AMOLED on the Galaxy S you can see what a difference 0.6 inches make.
A 960x640 display is excellent though. Good move.
Given Meizu's track record though, I think an October release is highly unlikely in fact close to impossible. Although I think bugs may be slightly less of a problem than they were on the M8 with android on board. My big issue would be battery drain over 3G. Given Meizu's complete lack of experience in this area i'm not sure how they are going to achieve decent battery performance on 3G considering the fact even major manufacturers find it hard.
On paper though it looks like a decent effort by Meizu, good to see they are still trying to keep in touch. If they can keep the price as low as they say and performance is solid I mite even consider it an option.
Can't help being skeptical though especially about the release date.Last edited by sere83; 08-29-2010 at 11:26 PM.

Release date will be early 2011 from what I've heard. The October date was before they changed the screen to this new one.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

yeah saw the other threads after. But again I can't help thinking, Meizu might miss the boat again. In 5 months time android 2.2, a 3.5 inch screen, 5mp camera etc etc may just not cut it anymore. May be OK as more of a mid range device though.
I would hope though to be using an android 3.X device by then, i suppose their may be updates though....

Thanked 200 Times in 145 PostsGood to hear that the apps will be compatible!
Maybe we will see the next revolution in Android OS here since i think by now every android phone is very easy recognizable by the UI.
Go, J.Wong, Go!
@BMP this only means that they (again) will not release the sources.
Like on the M8 there runs Windows CE, it is not pure windows CE but Meizu OS...
you would not want a 'pure' android like we have it now on the M8 on the M9, would you?Last edited by Loonix; 09-01-2010 at 09:17 AM.

Thanked 83 Times in 30 Postsi think we will know how M9 will perform after 1 more month waiting. i pretty like the meizu style UI. as long as M9 is android-app compatible, i prefer meizu-style UI rather than the native interface.
anyway, just one more month to go

Android-app capable. A confirmation i've been waiting on (even though it was pretty obvious)
It aint a big deal that it's not capable of using original Android, because it has 2.2. It seems stable and speedy enough... :P

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsI think JW did not do his homework!
How are they going to prevent us to run an original Android?
With a Efuse system like on the motorola droid? By not releasing the driver source code? That´s no problem at all you know, we will find a way into it like we did on the serial port on the m8, this by first rooting the M9 ;-)
It will depend if it will have a GSM unit in to it :-)we can all just hope it will work flawlessly outside China

Thanked 269 Times in 146 PostsOnly, if it´s not themed....and one can theme anything in android.
I would love to have pure android on M9...
I think, when Meizu will release their M9..there could be Gingerbread or even Honeycomb out in the wild
So: Don´t waste your time with a homebrewed Inerface Meizu, relase it now
