That do not say that Android does not cost for the Chinese market when the oPhone of Lenovo is going to sell it the operator China Mobile.

I said it in the first moment, Meizu can make use of the increase of Android on the market to benefit, so much in publishing proper applications gaining money, a proper market...

Meizu would have to extract two versions, one with Android (the UI default) and one with Windows CE, this way would have two models in selling, this way it would have opened two markets without losing any.

I believe that Meizu investigates of how it is possible to install Android in a M8 but it will not extract it because he thinks that he does not benefit him or any clause with Microsoft.

Pero Meizu would have to see the cases of Lenovo, HTC, Samsung, Lg, Sony Ericsson that are extracting models with Android...

Apparently, many major Chinese tech news outlets have been using the picture of this article WITHOUT citing the source.

Apart from displaying poor journalistic ethics, this has also lead to mass confusion. Many Chinese netizens now believe that there is a working Android for the M8 due to the picture.

To clarify: It is just a mockup/visual aid to give readers a sense of how Android would look like on the Meizu M8. This can be assumed by reading the text contained within the article.

has anyone actually tested to boot android onto m8?
(i cant i dont have one)

cause if i am right android runs on ARM cpu, a cpu m8 uses.
Android runs on htc devices that are winmo what is actually wince based.
M8 os is also based on wince

so it should very easily been done (with easily i mean without really big changes onto it, just to make it running even without all functions working)

see for example :
Installing Android [Android on HTC]
Get Involved [Android on HTC]

i would love to see someone testing this:P

I tried it but it say's "Haret is not running in "system" mode. Major functionality will not be present.

Edit: Got it but now it says "faild to lock 607 pages (code 6)

If anyone knows how to edit the bootloader so it's fit for the m8 I think it will work

It's better to have a fully android system, because it is hard to have wince/mmobile+android. Think of the speed, because both systems need memory, and the current 256Mb is not enough, i guess
So, people, you better forget to convert the HTC version to a M8 version because it wont make you happy and you loose a lot of time!

@ erzincano
so it stops while booting the bootloader?
or does it continu on booting?

@LVL, you are correct but..
if you can get it working on dualboot you have a working android system, only the boot system is different on a full android build?
...so it does not really mather.

ps;if you start from 0 you will not be able to use the phone while making android ;-)

anyway, i think that meizu has a raw android build for m8 (if i understand the interview with the ceo),
if they only would publish it.. maybe a good thing to ask for it on bbs
(who speaks the language? ;-) )

seems indeed a problem like bad config in default.txt for the bootloader.

i would say tray to play with the possible settings?

I've tried few versions from htc android and Haret always says "Failed to lock 1014 or 607 or 997 pages (code 6) I think it's the kernel that make this problems.

im not sure, as what i have read on the android kernel, it is not that really to make a kernel that runs (read: just runs not working perfect)

it could be the bootloader aswel, they use haret (HaRET - Handhelds.org MoinMoin Wiki ) maybe it needs changes, i will have a look onto it.

ps you could try to run haret on the m8, dump the hardware information the, it can be useful for an android m8 port

edit : made a new topic concerning this :
[project]Port android to meizu M8

Meizu should consider a phone with Tegra chip. It's simply amazing (watch Zune HD) and based on windows CE.

Woot,
i do think that resellers finally are beginning to understand that an opensource os has more value cause it is 1 standard and it will save them money.
so that is great :-)

About the subforum, who knows maybe in future ;-)

Btw, i thought i saw a notice on bbs that Meizu joined the android program.
Only strange thing is i can not find them in the participants list , so i am not sure if it is true!
