    External battery charger is ready for Meizu M8

    Currently the Meizu M8 external charger is only available for free to fans in China who have registered about 2 months ago for the promotion (more than 50,000 registrations). They will also get a free battery with express shipping. That's really nice of Meizu, isn't it?

    No pricing was mentioned, but we should be seeing this on store shelves soon.

    Is this like the M6 charger, the one with a mini-USB cable that plugged into the M6?

    No. It is an external battery 'charger'. You use it to charge any replacement/extra batteries you may have purchased, while not being used in the phone.

    I have one on the way.

    How do sign-up/get one? I bought my M8 with an extra battery earlier this year (bought it off a friend from China). Is it free for people who buy a battery from now on, and is it only free for China?

    @pkraz

    You had to register your phone on the Chinese meizu bbs a few months ago to get one free. It wasn't when you bought a battery, what happens is you get a battery with this free. So you get the external charger and a battery for free if you registered.

    Get in touch with your friend and see what they say.

    No, registrations are no longer open. I think it was to do with the price drop. It was a gift to people who bought the phone before the drop in price as the drop in price happened so soon after release.

    I know that it's a battery pack, but what I meant was how does it connect to the M8? Is it a case that holds the M8, or a battery pack with a cable? The M6 portable battery charger was similar to this, and probably would work with the M8.

    It's just a charger, not an on-the-go battery pack. You just charge your battery in it, then put it in your phone.
