Jack Wong, CEO of Meizu has just announced some new information about their upcoming mobile phone, but instead of calling it M9, he said they are planning to release a new version of M8 with 3G capabilities (TD-SCDMA), GPS, and a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash. He mentioned they are also planning to release a WCDMA version later.
The only question remains is: When?

If I not wrong, I think TD-SCDMA use 3G format to surfing web
But TD-SCDMA do not use satellite how can it be 3G, I don't understand
TD-SCDMA - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Technical highlights
TD-SCDMA uses TDD, in contrast to the FDD scheme used by W-CDMA. By dynamically adjusting the number of timeslots used for downlink and uplink, the system can more easily accommodate asymmetric traffic with different data rate requirements on downlink and uplink than FDD schemes. Since it does not require paired spectrum for downlink and uplink, spectrum allocation flexibility is also increased. Also, using the same carrier frequency for uplink and downlink means that the channel condition is the same on both directions, and the base station can deduce the downlink channel information from uplink channel estimates, which is helpful to the application of beamforming techniques.
TD-SCDMA also uses TDMA in addition to the CDMA used in WCDMA. This reduces the number of users in each timeslot, which reduces the implementation complexity of multiuser detection and beamforming schemes, but the non-continuous transmission also reduces coverage (because of the higher peak power needed), mobility (because of lower power control frequency) and complicates radio resource management algorithms.
The "S" in TD-SCDMA stands for "synchronous", which means that uplink signals are synchronized at the base station receiver, achieved by continuous timing adjustments. This reduces the interference between users of the same timeslot using different codes by improving the orthogonality between the codes, therefore increasing system capacity, at the cost of some hardware complexity in achieving uplink synchronization.

Thanked 2 Times in 2 PostsAny opportunity that one will be released before 2010? (I guess not since I know Meizu's release dates) But it's really good news anyway! :D

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsToo bad they're doing a Chinese 3G-standard, so it won't have any use in most other countries and continents.
Nice boost in GPS and camera though, nice

Better be 32gb
If this is not 32gb this is gonna be useless. As the new iphone will be release this summer.

Yeah and 1 Year later the 60GB iphone will be released with another great "novelty" like proper working bluetooth
or something and idiots like you will spend another 600 Bucks for it and so on.... please wake up.
And by the way...for what reason do i need 32GB of Memory on a Phone?Last edited by aaronbsc; 05-13-2009 at 11:13 PM.

Yeah you say that but at the end of the day the iphones software obliterates the M8's. This is a fact. In fact the iphone obliterates the M8 period. Obviously Apple have way more money/resources etc but a lot smaller companies than Meizu make phones with less bugs. I would much rather a more expensive phone that works with no bluetooth than a bug ridden nightmare with bluetooth.
Meizu should start holding weekly 'Bug Parties' where owners get together and discuss all the new bugs they have found in their M8's. hahaha. And just for the record I have never owned an apple product. I only say this after years of waiting then not being able to buy an M8 as it is basically a beta product that cannot perform basic functions outside of China unlike many other phones only released in china.
As for this 3G M8 well.....I think Wong needs to spend some money on some decent programmers before he starts trying to release more phones. And the WCDMA version.....i'll make sure I save some money once I've drawn my pension in 2045.Last edited by sere83; 05-13-2009 at 11:49 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsHaving owned the M8 now, i don't see any fathomable reason that would compel me to upgrade to the a newer version from Meizu for yet more money down the drain.
Seeing how they have implemented stuff in the M8 i wouldn't be surprised if i started navigation from my home and the phone led me to China!!

Thanked 51 Times in 37 Postsyeah when... i think we have to wait another 12 months!
i got my white M8 this week. it would be very annoying to spend 330€ for the old version, if the new one is coming this year!
and as others said, when the M8 SL or M9 is released 3G will be outdated. the only thing i'm going for is GPS. it sucks hard that the M8 has lack of it.
I waited neraly 2 years for the M8, bought it, just to notice there will be a better one after half a year? Don't hope and don't think so.
Meizu, take your time to bring out something new and dated! And don't annoy your (old) M8 buyers!MX-HK, M9, M8, M6SL

I think almost above post are out topics why we don't discuss about 3G, TD-SCDMA or built-in GPS
by the way, about large amount of storage memory always cause problem if ;
processor: if it still not over 1 Ghz, how slow when it search on disk and they must think about power consumption too
RAM: its very effective when you open one directory with mass and huge files, 1GB ram ? dual-channels ? or DDR3 ram? I don't think these will come in this year
motherboard: all the thing is about bandwidth, more storage you have wider bandwidth you need
And everything is about more battery or less usage time, it will be like laptop that you can use about 2 or 3 hours with 1 kg battery

Thanked 51 Times in 37 Postsyou can combine this specifications with a normal battery. if you have a big RAM and CPU and graphic chip, the battery is essential! there will be no big steps in my opinion!

You mean 64 Gb?
Sound like the iPhone 3G anyone?
Let's hope this time, it doesn't take forever to release, but all in all the M8 is a pretty good phone with a couple of software quirks easily fixable. It has high quality components, and hasn't fallen apart on anybody yet right? If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.
Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

G3 is China Mobile's branding for its TD-SCDMA service, thus the name.

Thanked 1,140 Times in 438 PostsNo news about that, but seeing how many test versions are out there they must have realized there's much desire for wifi as it's "free". Let's hope they manage include it somehow.
