Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIpod is nothing, you only pay for the brand. Not much features, bad sound quality and only expensive cables and accessoires, which you can only use with the ipod. Meizu is simple and has no iTunes restrictions (and other crap). It uses normal universal cables, which are cheap. So don't say Meizu *****

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe debate continues...
Ha ha...I think Apple fanboys got tired of pissing on Vista and found a new bone to pick. Except this time they're picking a fight with the new kid on the block.....totally unfair!
It will be smart for Meizu for get this product out before the end of the year just so it takes all its would be IPhone customers. Even if the two phones hit the market in China about the same time, I still think most people will go with Meizu's being that it is much cheaper and Apple doesn't have that much of a reputation here.
Perfect example: Apple had a booth at the college I am studying at in Beijing, China and one girl asked the Apple rep regarding the IPod Video, "can I surf the Internet on it??" I don't blame her for asking a question like that cause at a price like that the freggin thing should make coffee for crying out loud!
Hurry up and get this phone going Meizu...I want something to show off to my apple fanboy friends!

Im also a macbook user, and i agree. i hate those apple fanboys or snobs. they are so blind and make the rest of the mac users look really bad. they cant take any criticism regarding apple and think that jobs is a god. I agree i get excited when apple announces new products because they really do have fantastic designs and new ideas. however, its just wrong to think thats the only thing thats out there. I applaud meizu for trying to improve upon apples design.
I love the fact that the iPhone is realy easy to synch/manage with an apple computer or just any computer with itunes. I love that. its simple. Its also going to have wifi capacity, really useful!! However, it lacks some major desirable features IMO: G3 support, BATTERY LIFE, Camera, Locked with singular (expensive and not that great sometimes), MORE EXPENSIVE just for the phone itsself.
The m8 seems much more apealling to me physically, because i like the white colour better. it better matches my macbook. I love that it has a longer battery life, better camera, higher resolution for pictures and videos and VERY resonable price and unlocked.
However, i probably will not purchase the meizu because of the user interface. It doesnt seem as smooth as the iphone, and it doesnt support a mac osx operating system. I LOVE MAC OS and i love their album art scroller available in itunes and iphone. but even more importantly, it doesnt synch with macs like iphone does.
Even though i love the meizu m6, because its simple. I probably wont get iphone or m8 unless something changes. aka, iphone gets way cheaper and/or unlocked, or m8 improve on interfact/ability to synch with macs.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt almost sounds like you own and use one already

Let's see first how well it does work.
Don't kid yourself that the iPhone would be runing the OSX, it is BASED on it yes but that's about it.

Apple even supports syncing a WM PDA with a mac..

As for iTunes sync to PPC you can do that too..

Mac is the best!
"MiniOne is just a total ripp-off of the new iPhone. That Microsoft copied this product just shows how talent- and brainless they are. they copy everything mac invents, sad really... no matter what, Mac wil always be the best!" -An angry - not to mention stupid - person...
EDIT: In fact, I'm so stupid that I didn't even post as a registered user, which means that anyone can edit my post. How dumb can I be? First, I can't stand it that life goes on without me, and that people outside my tiny little semi-brained bubble can actually function (happily, no less, without any of my moronic anger to trouble them), and second, I'm really angry because nobody will just make Steve Jobs Emperor of the Galaxy, so that we can all pay homage to him and be genuine Mac clones -- not like all these diverse fake ripoff clones that make me so snot-wipingly frothing at the mouth and angry.Last edited by Unregistered; 07-08-2007 at 05:10 PM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postslol, and by the way Microsoft has been in the smartphone business a long time now, while Apple entering only now. And Apple (not Mac... Mac is only a designation for their computers) stole the GUI from Xerox, they didn't invent it.
Oh, and Meizu != Microsoft. People like you give Apple fans a bad reputation. Please, stop using Macs, stop writing anything about them.

They shouldn't use Windows... It would also become more popular if it har wi-fi and maybe 3G... Apples multi-touch is very handy... These things are the only things that make iPhone better in my opinion.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSounds like you speak my language "swenglish"

I am not following your logic though? Why not use Windows? If you don't want Windows get the iPhone, that is the whole point to HAVE windows, because (just like in the PC world..) although many of us might acknowledge that Apple OS is better in many ways Windows is supported by so many more software providers, same is true in the Windows Mobile world.
As for wifi not sure why you would need it with wwan?
3G, it *has* 3G, unlike the iPhone...
What "these things" is it that makes the iPhone better exactly? I would get an iPhone if it would allow for adding and using the software I want and need right away, but it doesn't, and we don't know if it ever will, say things like Skype, listening to Windows Media Player Live Streams (maybe not the best format out there but one of the most common ones nevertheless), all this and much more I can do on ANY WM phone today, even if it only has (E)GPRS!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWiFi is often free or very cheap, 3G is very expensive. I would use WiFi, but 3G? I have a 3G phone, never used 3G once.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI love M8, but unless it gets WiFi, it will probably lose many clients, including me. However if it does get WiFi, I will get it ASAP.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI'd say the focus is more and more on wwan nowdays and less on wlan, if anything on wimax. From my experience using a device with both wwan and wlan is more complex and time consuming than its worth unless it's a laptop that you use mainly on wlan and on occasion on wwan when needed. If you're looking to use something mainly on wlan what benefit is it for it to be small and pocketable, since you will only have wlan access at certain locations, and usually they charge for those.
Personally I prefer wwan to wlan on devices like this and if one can gain battery power, size or other benefits by leavin out wlan, I'm all for it. BTW the iPhone doesn't have wlan either...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsProbably depends on where you live... unlimited wwan costs quite a lot here... at least as much as my landline connection, and paying both is too much. However for the area I am mostly when I'm not at home I have to pay just a few bucks for a several MB/s WiFi connection. And you never know if the M8 has the sort of 3G that my country uses.
Anyway... http://dapreview.net/comment.php?comment.news.3962
The M8 is supposed to have WiFi after that source.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsBased on your comment about 'the sort of 3G' your country uses I'd dare to guess you're in north america as that's one of the few places that the 3G is different from the rest of the world. Well in NA you can get unlimited wwan GSM for $29.99 and $49.99 or so depending upon your network and other options you have with your carrier. My point though still is what's the point of having all these ''mobile features'' if you will only have occasional net access? If you're looking mainly for net access at stationary locations there are other pda/handtop solutions that will do that job at either a fraction of the cost or with a completely different performance.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsNope, Germany. I somehow recall that Chinese 3G is different from European 3G.
PDAs are usually more expensive than the Meizu
I don't mind that much not having mobile internet (never used the internet on my 3G smartphone), but I'm sure others will want to, and having WiFi is useful. Also to sync the device with your computer at home, to load your MP3s and videos onto it, etc.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWell yes China does (or will?) have its somewhat own 3G network, but generally speaking Asia and Europe (unlike North America) shares the same GSM standards.
Ok yeah it is a little up-side-down the wwan/wlan situation in Europe vs. North America, where there are plenty of 'all you can eat' wwan options in NA whereas 'public' wlan tend to be tied to some carrier that charges for it. Ironically though GSM spread quicker in Europe, I've been using GSM since 1992 in Europe, the unlimited packages for wwan still isn't very price effective in Europe.
PDAs more expensive than the M8? Well again this preception might be tied to the huge market of used PDAs in NA, where I can get a like new Dell x51v for $200~300, which is still one of (if not THE) best (stand alone) PDA ou there.
As for syncing and transfering files and music, bluetooth is really a lot more effecient for that than wlan, and BT is in just about ever pocket device nowdays.

Actually the wifi feature is awesome! Lots of cities in the NA are starting to offer free wifi access. Pair this up with vonage and you have free calls to anywhere in the US and most parts of Europe. If that doesn't make you happy I don't know what will?
Anyone know what carrier this phone will work with in the US? I really want one bad!
