    Grr technology mandated artificial divides.
    Uh what?

Japan uses GSM dude...the only major centers of CDMA are Canada, USA, Korea...I think that's it.

Unless if you are getting confused with WCDMA which is based of GSM, and is 3G Wireless network technology (It's also called UMTS) which runs off the 2100mhz band but GSM is still prevailant there.

North America will not be getting WCDMA but HSDPA which is technically 3.5G

What's wrong with a little competition? I mean, why are all the Apple fanboys bent out of shape about this? I own a MacBook, and love a lot of the products Apple produces. If it's just a cheap "copy" that is crap.....guess what? It will go the way of the dodo. If Meizu is "jumping on the bandwagon" so to speak, so what? They are in business to make money and provide a product and service. If they can do it, more power to them. Let's stop treating Apple(Steve Jobs) like the roman god of tech. I think the fanboys really need to go seek phyciatric help. You think Apple will loose sales becasue of this product? Doubtful, unless of course, the product is actually BETTER! If it infringes on patents and copyrights, I'm sure Apple can afford a good lawyer with all the money they make off us.

Fully agreed chinajoe. I own a Mac Mini and love it, and if I somehow can afford it my next computer will be a Mac Pro. But I still like the idea of the miniOne. Not the design... will have to post my own creation when it's finished.

Wait, my phone, which is a 4 year old Motorola, has almost all the features the iPhone has. Of course the iPhone has a higher resolution display, a better touchscreen, a sleeker, better interface, more memory, etc., but the basics are all there and can mostly be attributed to technological progress.

Youre not an Apple fan.. you THINK you are because Apple does good marketing
As with most fanboy behavior its good marketing that does the trick...its all just psychology

remember when all kids wanted a tamagochi(or however its spelled)... they didnt want one cause of the toy but because marketing machines warped their fragile little minds...

    just my 2 cents

the bottom line is meizu will nevr ever rival apples GUI ever! they simply do not have the resources or the engineers to do it. However the iphone does have a very average spec and the m8 will have far more useful and advanced specifications for more advanced users at a very reasonable price. I think a decidion not to include cell phone capabilities in the european and american markets is a big mistake and will deter many consumers.

Yeah, but they are using Windows Mobile or CE... just like most other manufacturers will do. Having to use Windows is bad in the sense that the usability is... well, it's Windows, but then you can run alot of software on the phone, which Apple doesn't allow. Both have advantages and disadvantages, and as far as I know Microsoft sooner or later Windows Mobile will look somewhat like the Apples Mac OS X mobile (or how they are going to call it).

They will use windows mobile becaue otherwise they will have to write an enitire operating system from sctatch , You amy not think that is hard because they did one for the m3 and the m6 but those are singular or double proocess system running only 1 or 2 processes , a pda or windwos mobile deivce runs hundreds of aplications ( maby not at once) and it has so much more hardware that has to be configured , im my opinion windows mobile would be the best option as it is sturdy and a good building frame compared to a buggy meizu firmware , Im not saying meizu is bad , i own a meizu , im saying that the firmware is initally buggy and building ontop of a windows based device will improve the problems alot more plus it will run standard windows mobile applications

Meizu must come out with this as soon as possible. Or at least before Apple. I'm highly interested in picking up the 4 GB Camera Model for 310 USD. Most of these Apple fanboys just pass this phone up as a complete rip of the iPhone. If most of them would take the time to look at the specs the Meizu is the way to go. I've known some Apple fanboys whom actually looked at the specs of the miniOne adverse to the iPhone and still chose the iPhone because it's made by Apple. Tisk, tisk, tisk.

i imagine there would be some sort of change made to the device so everything works as it should in the us and europe.

Hm... I think the additional buttons, while some will definately like it, are useless to me (just make the on screen buttons large enough and I will be happy...), make the phone thicker and more prone to break. Also the screens resolution is a bit low maybe. It also lacks WiFi which is a bit sad, and it seems to run its own OS. While I can imagine that in the case of Apple the 3rd party support (as far as Apple will allow it... we'll have to see) + the quality and ease of use of the OS will make up for that, in case of a single Samsung modell... nope. Yes, Windows Mobile is ugly, its probably not that easy to use etc., but you can run a lot of software on it. And to me, that's the point of having a smartphone/PDA phone. You get WiFi coverage? Phone via VoIP for very low rates. Want to read e-books? Get Mobipocket Reader with it's Amazon supported e-book library and the nice software which allows you to convert any kind of document/book. You want a satnav? Get an external bluetooth GPS antenna and the software (usually comes bundled) and there you are. You will probably able to do all that on the Meizu, but not on the Samsung or the iPhone.

    Btw. talking about iPhone lookalikes:

The phones closest to the Meizu will probably be the ones from HTC, they are basically doing the same, though with less storage space and less orientation towards music/media.

I don't like either of the Samsung options...
The first one is "just" a smartphone; it's useless to me for all the reasons explained so well by kadajawi.

The F700 is more interesting, but I'm no fan of integrated keyboards (moving parts = broken stuff :P ) and it also has smaller screen with less-resolution than the miniOne...and again, too bad for the OS.

The 5Mp camera is awsome though ^_^
And it has native UMTS and HDSPA...I hope the M8 will have umts too! (I neeeeed it)

    ....

Personally my alternative to a miniOne would very possibly be a Toshiba G900.
The design is not M8ish, and it has the keyboard (sigh ), but its hardware ROCKS.

both the toshiba and the samsung look good but I doubt either can support sdhc cards. That means only 2gb max. If the latest specs are correct the m8 will support 4gb, 8gb and even 16gb!!! 5mp camera would be great though
