Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsNonsense. It's just an ordinary PDA/Smartphone, which happens to be inspired by the Apple iPhone in the design department and has a lot of flash integrated to double as a MP3/video player. Otherwise it uses the same software that most Smartphones use, and btw. they all look somewhat similar. There aren't too many possibilities.

What a joke.... Don't bother getting worked up kids.... The iPhone is in a class of its own... Nothing will touch it.... Just like Apple's computers, iPod's, etc....
Nothing comes close.....

Yeah, I suppose you're right... What the heck was Apple thinking? I suppose you'd have to be an idiot to think anyone would want to buy a phone with those kind of features.... Same with the iPod.... Who would want to buy one of those MP3 players, when there's Creative and, don't forget the Zune....

anyways...back to the thread topic...the phone is looking great...but like others said it's lacking features as of now...i hope they'll iprove it based on the substantial comments left here...more power to meizu.

^If that were true and all that's needed is a software stack replacement, this phone will so be under everyone's purchasing list and will become as prolific as the old O2 Mini (HTC Magician) back in its day. It's not everyday you get a 3.5G *PDA PHONE* for around $195 US without a carrier plan. >_>
In any case - anyone with experience in both Windows Mobile, and Windows CE at the same time? And ARM11 vs ARM9? I get the feeling that we're still going to get software incompatibilities aplenty, as many of the good apps used in todays PPCs are programmed for Xscale and the Mobile flava.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWndows Mobile= Windows CE
Windows CE is the overall name for all handheld OS versions by Microsoft. Windows Mobile 6 will be the next OS.

AFAIK CE5 != Mobile 5 (while Mobile 5 is based on CE 5).
At the same time CE4 != Mobile 2003 (while Mobile 2003 is based on CE4, and Mobile 2003SE is based on CE4.x)
Therefore, CE6 != Mobile 6 (Photon, formerly known as Crossbow), but Mobile 6 will be based on CE6.
This isn't like XP Home vs XP Pro, mind you. The Mobile OS's are stripped down versions of CE, for "better usability". Changes in start menu, lack of task manager are two noticable differences. IIRC programming for Mobile is slightly different from programming for CE. Compatibility for apps is not garunteed between both versions of the same OS - tho some apps do run on both.
Zircon Axia ran on CE rather than WM. It had compatibility problems with WM apps, and in fact, you were advised to give up immediately if a given WM program didn't install correctly.

OK. I'm salivating already.
I'll buy it in a heartbeat if it works with US based carriers.
I'm pretty sure it won't work with Sprint.

Sprint is a CDMA carrier. >_>
Just like Japan. <_<
Grr technology mandated artificial divides.

hehe, the best part of all is that they're offering the M8 for 3 times its real price and they're giving a in stock date...
Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.
