Xerxes, what's your gripe? A rip off from Apple? Under what rock have you been living in for the past two decades?
The whole concept of the modern computer GUI is a rip off of a rip off that started out of Xerox back in the late seventies. The cellphone? A rip off of military design (remeber the big Motorola white brick cellphone?) How many concepts do you think companies 'rip' as you say from each other on a daily basis? The list can go on and it's not exclusive to the electronics industry. Clothing, beer, soft drinks. On today's world there's no exclusivity on the design of a specific product. Not any more.
If people didn't 'rip' as you say we'd still be driving Ford Model T cars. Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, my friend. And also if I may add the best way to initiate improvements in design. Just take a look at the M6! It's a definite improvement over the iPod (bigger screen, built in FM tuner, etc.). Would you classify that as a rip-off?Last edited by citizenklaw; 02-14-2007 at 05:53 PM.

Yeah, saw. Too bad it's two weeks old. It is basically about a guy forum member who defends Meizu from the iPhone clone accusations.
Personally, I think if Meizu didn't use the OSX background in the M8 renderings and place the icons on the same locations as those of iPhone, things would be a lot different. Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

The rock can be said of you citizenclaw. You are wrong, you know nothing.
I'm getting real tired of this missinformation. Apple people were invited to see what Xerox was developing. Apple liked it and they PAID money for rights to it. Do you understand that? What Xerox had was very rudementary at the time. As an example it was much after this that Apple put the menu bar up top with drop down items. You are the sort that tell people Microsoft saved Apple when they bought $150 million worth of stock. As for the phone, it will sell to people who don't care to use the best OS on the market, they are used to crap UI so they will think this thing is just great. But it won't be near as good as the iPhone for user experience. Visually it's a rip off and I hope Apple cuts them off before they can get it out.

Would it have really made a difference, Err0r? In some of these sites some MP3 players are always a 'blatant knockoff' of the iPod. It can be one feature or the other, but there's always something.
I stand my ground; if I can use the M8 in the US when it's released on any carrier I'll purchase it. Just to stick it to the man.

Well, personally I will get it for sure when released because it will be a good phone and not for any other reason.
I just meant that Meizu could be a little more professional in their marketing. On another note, I find it great that Meizu have finally removed the OSX-inspired background from the M6 firmware. Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Bob Smith? Only one post? Tell me, why are you here? Do you even own a M6? I smell a troll.
You entirely missed the point of my post. With payment or without it the technology industry feeds innovation into itself; it can't survive without it. Fueled by the desire of doing better than the next guy, innovations get injected into the collective bloodstream of the industry if you will. The fact that it's easier now, via the Internet, to acquire, analyze, internalize and improve on existing technology designs is unavoidable, and it's actually encouraged. Ever heard of a little thing called Linux? Apple, Microsoft, Ford, Gap, Coke. None are immune to this.
Ever read 'The World is Flat'?. Get it. It'll be very illuminating. If anything, it'll help you improve your grammar.
And it's CitizenKlaw for you.

That I agree to, Err0r. They're trying to ride on Apple's coattails when they should rely on the proven stability of their products, as every owner of a M6 can attest. ;-)

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIt looks awesome! It's just too sad that it still looks like they're going down the Microsoft path. Is there anything we can do to try to change their minds about this? Microsoft has too much control over everyday electronic devices as it is.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe metal finish looks cheaper than iPhone.. is that one is really a real thing or just another render? I'd prefer plastic finish like SOny ecricsion phone or some other things like that. Their metal finish makes it look dirty.
DOes anyone knows if it actually a phone runs with windows mobile?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThere are a lot of Smartphones in Germany which are running on Windows Mobile 5 and soon there will be some phones with Windows Mobile 6.
xonio.com reports that there will be at least 20 phones with Microsoft Mobile 6 in the second quarter of 2007. Here are some pictures: http://www.xonio.com/bildergalerie/x..._24211298.html

Obviously there's nothing we can do or say. That's gonna be their new product and just two options for us: get it or not.
It will be packed with a lot of features and windows powered is indeed the best option since there's plenty of applications already working for it (backguard compatibility)Internet has an answer for every question out there, not likely to be always the answer you're looking for.

Hey Bob, if you like to use a phone/mp3 player that wont let you use the file types you want, charges you 30 bucks for a 2 dollar cable etc go ahead
While i agree with you Apples GUI is better than windows, Apple products usually have serious drawbacks too. Besides the fact they squeeze you for every penny, apple products are hard and expensive to upgrade(computers), usually come with less than stellar specs, dont give the consumer what they want(where is my radio and user EQ on the Ipod??) and are very limited in their options(eg no ogg in Itunes)
Besides that all companies borrow elements from others Apple came with an Mp3 player after creative did, apple also borrowed a product name from creative...
so...while the M8's DESIGN might be apple inspired, inside its no apple at all...
whether you like that or not is personal... you prefer the attractive simplicity of the Apple products, I prefer to use my computer, player and phone the way I like it...
You are happy with pre-set Equalizers and 128KB AAC music, I prefer to set my own EQ and use high Quality OGG
We all have our preferences...

<OFF TOPIC>
oh gee, i seem to be smelling the stink of a couple of trolls in the forums. (*cough* xerxes *cough* *cough* bob smith *cough*)
news flash: this IS a Meizu fansite and forums. surprise!! we're here to be meizu fanboys/girls! not blindly mind you, (*cough* apple fanboys! *cough*) but within reason. if you think meizu is a ripoff from apple, then go rant about it in an apple forum. you're not gonna get any sympathy here.
</OFF TOPIC>
now, back to the topic, i would LOVE to have a phone like this but as of right now, my usage of my cellphone doesn't justify the cost of a smartphone. i'll stick to basic phones for the moment, but i'm definitely keeping an eye on the m8.

What alot of people don't know is that Apple copied LG's design. So it's OK for Apple to copy theirs, but it's not OK for Meizu to copy it?

Glacier, thanks for the sniff.
This goes beyond being a fanboy; it's recognizing superior design and engineering when you see it. Just as the M6 is superior in every way to the iPod Nano.
Having had the M6 for quite some time now, I know that the M8 will be superior. In every way, period.
I still don't know if it'll work in the US. But as I've said if it does, I'm all over it.

Will the apple fanboys brand this an Iphone ripoff too?

Look, it has a touchscreen and icons and uses the color black!
Quick call Apples lawyers!
