that's where non-removable battery phone fails, gps will drain the battery in 3-4 hours.

Nope, but AFAIR Wong said that this video will be out end of May, or early June at the latest...Still a little bit of time to avoid another missed deadline ;-)
Posting fixed rendering of the interface 2 week before the deadline for a video of a functioning prototype does not smell too good, though...but maybe I have become overly pessimistic...

yeah releasing a couple of fixed screens does seem strange prior to putting out a full UI video. Nevertheless they are non critical screens, hopefully he is saving the main icon menu and music/video managment/playback and web screens etc for the full video. I am quite sceptical too though TBH.

It's really difficult to know to what extent to trust Wong's forum posts. He seems to be quite honest about the M8's progress, however many were expecting a full working prototype at CeBit as opposed to some boards and a non working shell.

Although the actual hardware shown at ceBit did look close to being finished. Things do get lost in translation I guess too. I hope that they will release a proper video soon though as it really is crunch time for Meizu, as many people already are losing interest or have bought something else due to the constant delays.

it think wong is honest but too optimistic. let's just give him time to see how optimistic.

I'm done, a french web site has regrouped about 120 people for a mass order of the diamond, we should be able to get it at 480€ or so, we'll find out the final price this evening.
Really I don't understand Meizu's strategy anymore. They keep promissing stuff and never hold anything. Where is the video? The gui seems to be ready so what is holding theme?
Also, they stay quiet for months then just release crumbles of info. As far as I am concerned, these pictures could just be photoshop!!!

Hello I bought a year back my Iphone because i was fedup of waiting for Meizu to release their product. Then i found that iphone was a very good device i love it I am not apple fan. Now that there will already an iphone 2 comming in a week or 2, I sold my iphone 1 to earn money for next release. Then a thougth came in my mind oh wait what happen to the Meizu that i wanted to buy a year back may be their product is out and it is even better then iphone.

So a little serach on came on this forum. What a deception, even after year they still were not able take it out ? what shame and worst there is not even any information on the date ? neither on the real charastertic, some say it has wifi other no etc..

So my question what the hell meizu peoples are doing ? are they playing with us ? or are they payed by Apple to do so ? liek this they create a Free advertisment for apple :S and is their any clear Sure information about it sepcs ?

Actually I think these pictures are photoshopped. But it doesn't matter if it is a photoshop or not, the point is to see what the GUI will look like.

But the main problem with photoshop images is that there's no guarantee they will be able to implement all the features (the sparkle I'm skeptical about seeing in the final release)

IMHO the main problem with photoshop/renderings of the UI is that it gives ZERO indication about where they are int the actual implementation...Well, maybe not zero indication: If anything, it would show they are not far at all, else they would have screen capture or even better: photo of an actual prototype.
Given that they promised a video of a functional prototype for early june...I smell additional delays...Those additional delays could hurt a lot, more than the previous ones: many concurents have been anounced for end of 2008, not only the iPhone/iPhone 2. If m8 is not out at this time, I guess its spread outside China will be low, except if it sell at a much lower price and can convince people that were reluctant to buy the other devices based on price. People will not wait the m8 for its specs much longer than end of 2008 imho, because among the various contender most people will have found what they want already...

That is a awesome UI. I'm TOTALLY into it! BTW I was curious as to whether the photo for the caller ID was taken by the MEIZU also, so I took a screen shot and zoomed into the image with PS and it appears as though you can almost make out a person holding a camera by looking closely at the reflection in the chick's eyes. :-P

Agree to everything you say.
Photoshop only shows they haven"t implemented anything yet. A video could be the only thing credible to show now.
Agree again than not everyone will wait for the M8 and or has found somthing. For my behalf, I am going for the diamond. I will still get an M8 thought but now I am waiting for a pmp than can phone rather than a phone with multimedia capabilities. All will depend on the sound chip quality.

i don't agree completely, it can just mean thay don't have a screen capture app for win ce. there's no point in speculating, let's w8 a couuple of days and if no video pops up i hope we'll at least hear from wong.

As written there is no final date on this beauty UI yet, but meanwhile you can join the bbs forum and be with to make different on this UI if there is something you don't like with it.
But either I or my computer can read Chinese, so you won't see me there. I don't really have much interest in the M8 yet,
I am quiet happy with my M6. I wait to see you guys what you have to say about it. I maybe look more forward to the M7, I don't really need a new phone yet.
