Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsDo I need special info to be sure of that? How many WinMo 720x480 apps have you seen around lately, probably not much. Unless Meizu is going to include an emulator or virtualisation kit. Not likely. What do you need an m8 sdk for if it's WinMo compatible anyway?
Also, WinCe and WinMo are 2 completely different things.ZTE Blade

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Poststhey are not that different, i'm sure you know wm is based on win ce. about the apps, on palm treo 750 which runs wm and has a screen resoulution of 320x320 pixels almost all 240x320 (and lower res apps) are auto scaled to fit the square resolution. so i think we will need to try every app on m8 before we can say if it works. also if apps aren't compatible i'm sure community will give birth to virtualisation

yeah DusL is right. That is why Meizu are releasing the SDK. Very few if any phones I am aware of even use a Custom Win CE interface. Coding for Win Ce is different to coding for Winmo, there are different rules and regulations. Also I have heard reports of people having problems even running Win CE apps on the Cowon Q5 (Win Ce 5.0) because they were made to run on different release versions of the same windows Ce version (Win Ce 5.0).
I severly doubt Winmo applications will work. Hopefully a large developer community will devleop though, just like what happened with the iphone.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsno 720x480 one, but a lot of 640x480 one, and I think at the time the first WinMo device with VGA screen appeared, many software editors not only added support for the VGA resolution (in addition to the classic QVGA one), they added resolution independent capability (I think it was a requirement of WinMo 5 or something): now you have WinMo device in the 240x240, 320x240, 320x320, 640x480, 800x480, and maybe even 400x240 or 480x320. Difficult to do without some physical resolution abstraction layer, eh? So I guess M8 resolution may be supported, or you will get may small black bands to get a 640x480 active area...
WinCE and WinMo are not really different, only WinMo contains additional stuff (like mobile word/excel, powerpoint, and maybe additional libraries). Of course the WinMo version [ corresponding to the WinCE kernel the m8 uses ] is not out yet, it may be an additional problem but it still not rules out compatibility...
So I still think it will be a mixed bag (like it is between different revision of WinMo, especially at the time the first VGA screen appeared), and I am almost sure that Wong did say exactly the same in the chinese BBS some month ago.

This phone this just a desperate plea for investment, and is never getting released. You heard it here first.
No more products from Meizu unless someone with deep pockets steps in to save them

How? Meizu isn't publicly traded.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsSteve, having the 720x480 screen in your hand will really be your halleluja-moment won't it?

We're still from there though, so the blessings should wait for after it's released. And again, people can't seem to live with a critic on this forum. Just let him be, perhaps that's just his impression of how things are.ZTE Blade
