Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsNo, no compatibility between the custom WinCE and WinMo 200x. Apps will have to, like with Apple, be custom-made for the device.
It only has EDGE (i think, don't know if there's some exotical 2,5G asian standard)
EDGE isn't that fast btw....., forget about a 3G m8 model until the actual 2,5G device is out.Last edited by DusL; 05-25-2008 at 08:09 PM.

since the moment i heard about this phone, i have been keepin a very close eye on its status... i personally would never buy a fakie product (such as the iFone p168) because its TOO FAKE imo! that is why i liked the M8, even tho origional GUI made it look to iPhone-ish... it was its own product with similarities to Apple! now that they have a fully redesigned GUI... im sooooooooo happy for the Meizu company that i want this as much as i want my gf... heheheheheh!
ill hit up a black market 4 this item if i have to a few days after its official release in china, i just hope they'll have the chinese text swapped out to english as im canadian (part white part native)! LOL :P
CHEERS!

Meizu has a working GUI with pictures (a litle psychedelique but nice in it's style), they should be able to make a video now no?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsDo you have special info to be sure of that? AFAIK there is no way to tell at this time, the only way to tell for sure is to test the released m8...or have insider information from meizu about the matter.
From my past experience (going from a 2003 QVGA WinMo device to a 2005 VGA one), my guess is m8 will likely not be fully compatible nor fully incompatible, but more likely some application will work fully, some will work imperfectly given the non-conventional resolution, and some will not work at all.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsunless I am wrong Meizu did not pay the mp3 license , then there is reasonable doubt they will pay even more for the Mpeg2, Mpeg4 part2/10 licenses ... ( MPEG LA)
that will make "legal" world sale of the M8 still somewhat questioning
otherwise, I do like the new GUI
which is a good move from simply cloning the iPhone ; Meizu has higher expectations...

How is there no sign that the phone will be released? J.Wong meizu CEO is constantly posting on the Chinese forum pictures and info of the Ui, development boards, mock ups, models etc. Very basic protypes have been shown at Cebit. These people that say he has decieved them are talking rubbish. Wong has always kept people updated and even gone so far as to give specific details about the issues and problems they have encountered that have delayed the m8's release.
I have said many times, the mistake Meizu made was anouncing this phone far too early and not accounting for a load of problems and setbacks that would end up significantly slowing down the progress of the M8's development.
Again forum posts from J.Wong have also said that almost all the company's resources are being put into bringing this phone to market and he has indicated that they are very stretched. The mp4 player market in China moves at a ridicuolously fast pace. For a company like Meizu to not have released a new player for so long is almost unheard of and must surely be damaging to their sales figures, profits and reputation. You have to ask the question then what have they been doing all this time if they havn't been developing the M8?
You must also remember this phone is being developed principally for the Chinese market. I have heard all sorts of reports about many people on the Chinese forum expressing frustration and anger at the delays forcing J.Wong to ask for their continued patience and support. This shows the tight rope Meizu are walking particularly with their loyal fans and customers. Not releaseing it would be devastating for them IMO.
There are no guarantees. However based on this evidence I personally think this phone will be released if not by the Q3 august/september period Meizu is claiming as the release date, then in the following couple of monthes.Last edited by sere83; 05-26-2008 at 04:19 PM.
