I really like the new design. more pictures would be very nice, a video would be the best thing EVER!!!
I'm pretty sure the drip isn't a drip and it isnt a trail for the pointer. Like I said, I'm pretty sure it lines up with the trnasfer/power port, and graphically displays the transer of files/power.

I hope Mr. Jack Wong (peace be upon him) makes the M8 capable of updating its firmware like the M6SL so that I can use it with Linux.

Also I hope a version comes out that does not have removable battery for security purposes.

Just by curiosity, why do you think a non-removable battery is more secure????
Are you affraid of the battery falling out of the device? This has never occured on any removable-battery device I owned, and I can not see how it can happen...except if you fix your m8 on a dirtbike for GPS navigation (but then put it in a water-tight shock-resistant case...)
Anyway imho the chance of having a non-removable battery m8 are nil: never seen any phone, pda, mp3 player or pmp produced in both removable battery and fixed battery versions. Especially if the first version is already having a removable battery, which is prefered by almost everyone (I would have said "prefered by everyone", before reading your post ;-) )

For hoping linux is installable on it, i am 100% with you: if android can be installed on it, it would gives a good alternative path should the original customized OS be unstable and Meizu unable/unwilling to provide enough patches. Basically it would make the m8 a safe option, at least as safe as Windows Mobile smartphone coming from bigger compagnies.

I have to say, the UI design might be a pretty nice one there!
But yea, I think I'd like to see it being animated of course

An August 29 release would certainly be feasible for another reason: Stuff like this in China almost always gets released on Fridays so that companies can take advantage of the weekend crowds for in-store and outdoor promotions.

So why wait for this when you can buy an iphone already? Cos it's gonna be $100 cheaper?

no offence but have you read any of the m8 posts on the forum at all? Have you even taken the time to find out a little about the M8 before asking questions like why people want to buy this phone and not an iphone? The information is laid out on this site quite well and is pretty easy to locate. There are many advantages that the m8 is said will have over the iphone (on paper anyway as it is not released yet). I'm feeling generous so I will list a few, but please next time look in the M8 section as all the advantages the M8 has over the iphone been discussed in a lot of depth on numerous ocassions.

Higher res screen than the iphone (48x320) M8 is 720x480
Removable higher capacity battery
Increased audio and video codec support (avi, mpeg2, h.263/4, rmvb, flac, ape, wma, mp3 etc)
Can decode video at resolutions upto 720x480 without necessary file conversion.
USB-OTG/USB HOST, can use memory stick or external storage with the M8
No need to use itunes
Drag and drop file transfer
Sharing files over bluetooth
MMS support
Opera web browser (Not strictly an advantage but good nonetheless)
The M8 will be available offline completely unlocked.
Offline it is said it will be cheaper than the iphone (no point in comparing an offline and online price as it is unfair)

It may come as a surprise to you but certain people like my self are very interested in having this increased functionality that is not offerened by the iphone. I recommend you go look in the M8 forum and educate yourself about this phone if you are interested.

I agree completely, i was swaying towards the Samsung F480 coming out on the 28th but these new UI shots and Sere83 listing the advantages over not just the iphone but most other phones has convinced me that i waited 1 year so far might as well wait until xmas. Just wondering if any updates on actual release/ avalibility in UK have been made, last i heard August at the earliest.

For a really fair comparison we'll need to wait out the iPhone2 which is released (rumors and inside-info are heavily confirming) in 2 weeks. This is because that advantages list is only half the truth, on the disadvantages list you will need to consider lack of 3g, gps, fact that it's a 1st gen versus 2nd gen, very late and only estimated China-only release in 3 months (import vs local apple store), smaller community (3rd party apps), Meizu products not having a good image recocnition by everyone etc.

We'll see soon enough how things will go. Meizu really has to get a move on, time is limited. The m8 isn't offering us anything at all right now, every other released phone wins for that simple reason.

yeah for sure. From my point of view the M8 (on paper) is the only viable option for me before the iphone. There have been a number of alternatives listed but apple are ahead of most of the other big manufacturers in terms of capacity, screensize, interface and ease of use. Hopefully Meizu will be too.

Phones like the SE Xperia and Htc Diamond look ok but in terms of multimedia (particularly video-audio and web) the iphone (and hopefully the M8) still far surpass them imo. While Opera 9.5 also looks very nice, I have used the iphones safari on a number of ocassions and it is really an amazing browser.

3G and GPS are not of interest to me and ideally I don't want to buy an iphone. Although, despite all the the iphones limitations, if the M8 dissapoints it seems like the iphone/3G iphone will really be the only viable option for me. All these new samsung/SE/Nokia and HTC handsets just don't seem to cut it particularly in the screen size and resolution department and cosidering Meizu is claiming full dvd res mpeg4 decoding. 0.4/0.5 inches really does make a difference IMO partuclarly when viewing movies. I also find samsung/SE/Nokia and HTC designs very conservative and their touch screens and interfaces are simply not as well implemeted as the iphones.

Apart from the iphones limitations, I also don't like the fact it is such a popular handset now and is not original at all. This is obviously partly to do with their strong market prescence and advertising but also simply because the iphone is a great device!

However I really like the obscurity of the M8 and the pure audacity and Vision of J. Wong and Meizu to actually try and create a device to rival the iphone, when other massive corporations all over the west and asia have all pretty much failed to compete with the iphone on a level of originaility and pure innovation, particularly in terms of GUI and also in terms of capturing the publics imagination and interest.

The problem with Meizu is their unreliability, as shown by the constant delays and lingering firmware issues with older products (eg. m6 stuttering). Neverthless from my point of view there is still no phone that offers what Meizu is trying to offer. I don't want to have to compromise and buy an iphone because I know that at least on paper there is a device which ticks all the boxes (the M8). I really hope Meizu can pull it off....

Lack of GPS?
I thought M8 would have GPS?

The GUI looks better then I thought it would!
One important thing for me is still how much is its skinable/customizeable?
Can I deactivated those "Glamour" effects if I dont like them? ^^

I like it, its a bit flashy, but I suppose it can be adjusted.

I liked the previous one better, but was a bit iPhone-ish.

I really hope the M8 is coming soon now, and I hope it comes to Europe fast too
