what happens if phone gets more than 2 digit calls and messages? that's one of the design limits i see on the icons and why does the drip only fall on the phone does it go to the other icons? overall looks good but some minor kinks of icon designs.

i'm just wondering on the software side if it's going to be easy to update the firmware unlike the extremely error prone updates on the miniplayer and if movie encoding for the m8 is as easy as coding it to a psp. even the computer bios update is easier to do than updating miniplayer firmware.

I don't know what happens, but seriously...who gets that much call or messages without reading them?
And the drips are falling towards the usb port of the phone (which is used for charging and data transfer too).

Actually, a firmware update is really easy...if you carefully read how to do it properly.
You won't have to encode your movies to use them on the M8 because it has a decent processor, and is capable of hardware decoding.

Looking pretty good. Nice to see some major differences from the iPhone UI. So if August 29 is the chinese release date like some people are speculating, when would everyone else get it.
Also, has anyone seen this?
eico design - Meizu M8 Homescreen Icons
Jus a little more...
EDIT: Wait, doesn't it say "Monday" somewhere as well as the 29th of August?
Yeah, if thats the release date, we'll be seeing it in 2011...

I am getting worried about battery life though. My iTouch runs with it's cpu underclocked on 460 mhz with a screenres of 480x320. Battery life is just acceptable, it seems to be crap on the iPhone. How is this going to be the case on that samsung 667 mhz and 720x480 of the m8? Higher cpu strain for sure because of the res and eye-candy...

The drip isnt on the phone icon, from what I can tell it's where the dock connector-y thing is... So It's showing graphically the power going into the device, or in the case of the transfer one, data going into the device.
I think it's a pretty gimmicky idea, but it's nice.
As for the more than 2 digit thing.. You realise this is just concept art, right? It isn't a screenshot from a running device afaik, and problems like that will probably be addressed later when they're actually building the UI.

It will have a 1400mah removable battery, which could also be upgraded with higher capacity third-party batteries, if the 1400mah isn't enough. The iPod touch has a battery with 1100mah, I believe.

Wow, that's the first time I've been called kid in more than 30 years...how about registering so I know what to call you? Or may I suggest a user name, such as "lightenup" ?

Very difficult to say: the 6410 is a new processor, it may be more efficient than the 6400. And the media decoding is largely hardware accelerated, which is also more energy efficient than having to decode everything in software using a general CPU. I do not know if the 6410 use the same process as the 6400. If it is etched finer, than I am sure it is much more energy efficient than the 6400 so battery life could be great. If it is the same process, my guess is that battery life should be about the same as the iphone when decoding movies (more efficient processor but more pixels), and maybe better for phone and music player...
Note that if the iphone 2 use the 6410 (and it seems very possible...), it may also have improved battery life compared to iphone 1..maybe very significantly improved...or it may be mitigated by the inclusion of 3G...
Wihtout the devices, it is all wild guesses anyway: imho even engineer building those devices have difficulties to predict accurate battery life before measuring it on an almost-final prototype, as it is dependent on multiple interracting hardware subsystems, and also on software...

do you know how i got my psp to do almost 20 hours of mp3 playing time. easy, turn of the screen , i'm sure there will be sleep mode on m8 like on almost every phone. about the cpu, i'm no worried cause drain depends on the load you put on the cpu, about 75mhz is enough to play mp3 so that means using a little of what m8 has.

A firmware update on the M6 is really easy and straight-forward. I wouldn't call it "extremely error prone". Most people who successfully update their players don't come on here and say, "Hey, guys, I successfully updated my M6 firmware!!" You only see those who've encountered problems here. Therefore, it may seem like a lot.
I am almost certain that the Meizu miniOne M8 will playback a variety of different video codecs without the need of conversion.

My apologies for my bad language earlier and my perhaps overly angry comments. I just don't like it when people come on here unregistered and make uninformed comments or criticisms that are of no use to any one. For example I would never go on an iphone forum banging on about the M8 saying stuff like
'hahaha the M8's gonna kill your rubbish iphone, and I'm gonna get one'
it just strikes me as stupid and pathetic. If you want to register and forward an opinion of course i'm all for that, but coming on unregistered to just gloat about your iphone or make stupid comments is of no use to anyone.
Anyway....In terms of the CPU and power usage it is definitley a key issue. Meizu have had a reasonably good track record with power consumption until now, however as people have mentioned the M8 is certainly a whole different ball game. Obviously we don't know at this time but I'm hoping they will offfer some power saving functionality (screen brightness options etc).
The Htc Diamond only usess a 900mah battery and runs 640x480 on a 2.8 inch screen with a qualcomm processor clocked at over 500mhz and early reports have indictaed the battery is not too bad but obviously they have more expertise in the area. On the face of it though 1400mah seems ok, as the iphone @ 480x320 has strong battery performance on 1100mah. So the extra 300mah the M8 has coupled with a more power efficient Cpu should I'm hoping be enough to give the M8 decent battery performance.

I think that the drip thing is like a trail for the pointer. both lead to a roundish spot. It's probably not a circle cause it is cut off from the screen. for the two digit thing with the missed calls/messagesm, i think that the numbers will just become smaller.
I really like the new design. more pictures would be very nice, a video would be the best thing EVER!!!
