But hey, I guess replacing the battery is a bigger deal to you!
iTunes is a bloated piece of crap. Drag-N-Drop is superior. Best video player? Not even close. Archos and Cowon make better video players. The iPhone doesn't even compare to an Archos or Cowon in video quality. The iPhone's sound quality sucks.

Itunes bloated? if 60MB is bloated. What do you use?

I'm talking video on a phone, not some log like an Archos or Cowon.

I suppose drag n drop is fine if you want to spend an hour swapping over your music.

Maybe it's time to buy a new pc, if you can afford one! 500GB hard drives are pretty cheap these days

You mean, buy a new computer so that we can use 60Mb to do what can be done with 2.5Mb? That's not only a ridiculous advice, but also a revolting thought!

You know, it's because of that kind of mentality that more than 20 years later today's operating systems still don't feel much faster than the Amiga OS did back in 1985... not to mention the fact that they still can't multitask so well.

It's really sad... stronger hardware comes out every year, but the bloatware makers still manage to outrun Moore's law.

Maybe you should go and troll on an iPhone forum, if you are such an iTunes fanboy.

Face it, the iPhone , iTunes and iPods are not the best there is. That is the one and only truth.

Now lets go back on topic, I think it had something to do with a Meizu M8 UI redesign or so... and no iPhone propaganda.

Do you know how much of a RAM hog iTunes is? It always runs in the back round too. It's a very crappy program.

    Lastest words from J.W Jun.5

In the past few days, a lot of problems about m8 bother me. 667 or 800 MHz? A matter of time, 32bit or 16bit? Operating speed, and m8 is not able to fully complete the UI implantation before Qingdao show. At the same time, everyone's enthusiasm became pressure, I can't sleep at night all the time... Today I received a HTC diamonds, It is rather beyond my expectation, in addition to the look / feel / display, the running speed and UI is simply a mess. I didn't understand a bit, who is the idiot, the one who created diamonds or the one who spent 5000 RMB for it ? At home this evening, I think of m8, and relaxed much, the most important thing is to release m8 asap. The 677 /16 bit/Qingdao show, These are indifferent, even if the minimum performance standards will also greatly exceeded most of the mobile phone in the market.

further delay confirmations but still, compared to previous messages, I take this as positive: at least Wong seems to understand and recognise that it is super important to get a working prototype, and release the m8 as soon as possible. Much more important than fine-tuning the UI. They have to show something a working sample, better than the CEbit proto, and ship the m8 in 2008, even if the UI is still a little bit rough. Anyway, once the hardware is final (and the only thing to be decided is 800 or 667 MHz...imho this should not make a big difference, I can not see how a 15% increase in CPU frequency can change things fundamentaly), firmware updates are no big deal. If it is a big deal due to internal resources, they can open it to android and they would still have a nice device, performance-features/price wise... Diamond may have drawbacks, but it have one huge advantage: it is out ;-)

True, changing frequency should not change the design at all...
My remark was more that this change of frequency should not really change the speed of the m8 significatively. Maybe avoid minor jitter, if the lower freq cpu was limit decoding one of the promised codec...But only a detail, 800 MHz will not makes the UI magically reponsive if it was not at 667 MHz.

I believed that was the essence of Wong statements, telling that they were ready to accept the minor glitches to show a proto at the expo as promised.
Last translation tell exactly the contrary: they use minor glitches as excuse for NOT showing a proto....once again...a few month before the supposed release date????

Hugely dissapointed by this, and I do not understand Wong priorities: it makes no sense to introduce a device like this....except if it really is vaporware, in the end :-(

Basically I will not trust any release date promises anymore, even approximate ones like "end of 2008". If m8 is out, even in China only, with independent test of an actual sample, fine, it will be worth considering or even wait for an importer.
Until then, i will consider it as a nice style study that will never be released....aka, vaporware ;-)

    The quoted from J.W Jun.6

M8 will not be showed at Qingdao expo, and directly released in offical forum (about 500 units ) for internal testing on July 15. After that, the beta version will come out.

    OK, Let's wait patiently!

While we do that, we can wait patiently for a few days til the Apple event :P

I'm curious about Meizu's idea behind these test-versions. I wouldn't buy one, not that I could get my hands on a China-limited release.

Isn't a test version basically testing it out and reporting bugs? Or is that not the test process?

    @steve

Jep, it is a matter of using it and reporting/living with all the bugs until Meizu's able to pull off the real product (you're not getting paid for it lol). After testing you may hand over some extra cash to exchange your buggy version for the real thing. Wong's also seems to be saying that test-version will be weaker in terms of hardware than the m8 should have, because of lack of time. I'm just saying what I'm interpreting of all the stuff though.

That's why I am totally not impressed by a so-given "release-date of a test-version of the m8". Perhaps there's a good reason that there aren't that many 720x480 smartphones around, if somebody thought about that.

i agree with dusl, but still test version are a nice bang for the buck and extra cash for upgrading doesn't add much to the price
