Too long.

Why would they want to release this out of date phone next February. That is the point, if they wait till February it is going to be out of date. If they do that they should do something like include GPS (is that still off the spec) and that Hitachi (or was that Toshiba) advanced mobile 3D processor that does 100M advanced polygons, on one model, to compensate.

After the sheer amazing amount of time I have been waiting to see this phone it has lost it's shine (literally) and we have been sadly strung along and betrayed.

No...I think that some people are beginning to think that they are being taken for, as part of a small company's marketing ploy of sorts?
Just what exactly have we seen that proves that an actual phone actually exists?

DaremoS,

No problem. My point is though that it is natural to start to feel that an actual phone doesn't exist, and we may just be part of a marketing ploy to promote a small company's name on the market place.
Having said that, I have been told by a Meizu distributor in Australia that, barring any delays in China, the phone is expected to be in Australia by February 2008.
So make of that what you will I guess.

Lets all be realistic here. The M3 was delayed for a very long time. When have Meizu ever delivered on time? Many much larger companies also never deliver products on time. Look at cowon the Q5 and A3 have been delayed for monthes. I will be VERY VERY suprised if we see the M8 before March 08 at the very earliest. At the end of the day meizu never made any official announcment when the phone would be released, it has all just been people speculating and EXPECTING it to be released. It appears now that they are hoping to show it at CES 2008 in january, for release in late Q1 or early Q2. You should all forget about it coming this year or any time soon, you have got to get realistic. If you don't want to wait, it's very simple.........buy something else.

Lol, why announce a product which you can't even produce in a 12 months timespan? That is killing the moral of the people that are expecting the product. On top of it you're making the specsheet spectacular.

It's like apple bombing the Iphone product, only in this case there is no product. We're bombing air for now.

Yeah.. thats taking the piss... This isnt a worthy product if its 12 months out of date when its released... Thats ridiculous.. It cannot possibly take 12 months for the whole process.. they are desiging a skin.. not redoing the kernal .. This is not a time consuming task. well.. there isnt much that can be done about it though

Here are my comments that I am sure will not be appreciated, nevertheless enjoy -

* Chinese build to price and price only and I guarantee this will be no different. Thats why all Chinese crap falls apart very quickly. They don't understand the meaning of quality. They're changing but it's endemic in the society and has been for a long time.

* Mr Wong would have to feel very proud when he wakes up in the morning knowing that he's copied one of the most innovative devices that Apple designed.

* In this world there are Innovators and their are Imitators. I know where this company hangs it's hat. Also it's great to see that they have partnered with MicroShaft. Another innovative organization......errrrrrrrr right.

* At least if you rip something off, don't do it as blatantly as these guys have. Its absolutely fucking ridiculous.

Anyway, I think I have made my point. The Chinese are the photocopiers of the world. How can any nation be taken seriously in anything if this is how they go about business. In the end they will only be selling their crap to Chinese and other underdeveloped countries who don't understand the long term ramifications of their actions.

R&D, Innovation, Design and Concepts by the world, Copying by China.

I know who I would rather be

Oh and by the way, I live and work in Beijing so I see it everyday

Oh yes and Apple make their product in China, Shenzhen actually, but the QC is tightly controlled by the US and not Chinese. That's the difference.

Enjoy

Sorry chief ... no nice rant at all :D

Mr. KmanOz is not talking of the devices we deal with here... I bet he has never used an MP4... most things he said maybe are true... but concerning MP4 and the devices that we are paying attention here his discourse is absolutely out dated... especially those concerning technology.

Nowadays all related with media and communications have get to a point that all is quite similar... but more important: all easy accessible to the mass... all thanks to Chinese participation.

If all were in hands of USA or its satellites manufacturers... probably we would have never get to obtain the amount of electronics and technological devices that we have now... due to a simple reasons nor their merchandising nor their costs nor the mess of copyrights and regulations would let them lower their prices.

That many Chinese have failures of course they have ... but they have make all their products affordable... that was not in the mind of the big manufacturer of USA or Japanese or Koreans.

Thanks, actually today was not a bad China day. If you got me last week, I would have been scathing.

When you say I was not on point, please explain because I believe my points where very valid. Clearly you cannot agree with me because you run the board, but the reality is this device has ripped the iPhone in many ways.

If Meizu designed a phone that had the functionality and features of an iPhone and DIDN'T copy its overall look, feel, and by the looks of things menus then I would say its a great device, but to do so is just plagiarism.

Apple would have spent a considerable amount of time and money in their R&D department to develop something as simple as SLIDE TO UNLOCK. Its style is its simplicity. To just rip it off and copy it is just wrong. But yes it will be available to the masses in China, Russia etc. The ones that like copies of the real thing.

I can guarantee you something though. When Mr Wong makes a lot of money by selling this device to "THE MASSES" I bet he will drive home in his Mercedes, Porsche Cayenne or BMW M5, X5 or Hummer. Or maybe Im wrong, maybe he drives home in a Chinese rip off of them. You know, one available for "THE MASSES".

I had to edit this because I saw this

http://www.meizu.com/bbs/dispbbs.asp...58456&s kin=1

If you or anyone considering this device cannot see that this is a complete rip of the iPhone, then I would suggest that you are either blind, ignorant or probably both. As I said, how could Meizu put their name behind a product like this and stamp it their work. Hell to make their life easier, why didn't they just ask Apple for all their code, injection moulds and tooling for the unit. At least they would get it out on time. Or would they hahahaha

That is what merchandise command you to say... Apple haven't invented anything... they just pick up several existing technologies put them all together and copyright them all as a whole.

Together with that they invest some money in marketing for people like you.

ah!!!... and they ask Chinese engineers to do the work

Have a nice China day!!

You know a long long time ago my father told me that you cannot educate an idiot and you definitely cannot win an argument against them either.

Therefore, I will stop. Anyway I believe I have clearly made my point.

Enjoy your iPhone.... errrr whatever its called. I enjoy mine.

Oh and for your comment about Chinese Engineers... They ask them now, just like they asked the Japanese, Taiwanese etc because for 6000Y a month you get an Engineer. In 10 time years time when it becomes to expensive to manufacture here, I can assure you they will ask India, Africa or whatever country happens to want to do it for a price. How quickly you forget that 20 years ago Shenzhen was a small crappy town. Thanks to foreign investment its now a bustling and thriving city.

So don't kid yourself we won't be asking for that much longer

Firstly KmanOz: Why are you bothering posting? This a meizu fan site for people who own their products or are interested in them, you clearly have no interest and are just regurgetating the tired boring views of other people who think this phone is a cheap chinese clone (and btw 99% of them don't post on this site, maybe you should take the hint). You must have a lot of time on your hands to go to all this trouble just to criticise something you clearly know very little about and have no genuine interest in. Who goes into a fansite forum and starts criticising the company? Obviously no one is going to care about what you think. I didn't know anyone had the capacity to be that lame. Since I like a charity case though I don't mind attempting to educate you (not that there's much point as you seem like a closed minded ignorant apple fan boy)

Secondly: No one can deny that meizu has copied elements of apples GUI and form factor. So what? Mobile phone companies and apple also copy many many design elements and functions from each other, are you blind? do you know nothing about the tech industry? this happens all the time, apple do this as well, they are simply better at masking it. The difference with this phone is that it will offer many functions apple would never dream of implementing in any of their closed platform devices. Some of us don't want to brick our phone with the latest firmware if we try and unlock it. Some of us don't want to sign up to some overpriced ridiculous 18 month or 2 year contract. Some of us want support for open source and lossless audio and video codecs without having to convert into proprietry apple formats. Some of us don't want to be chained to useing apples itunes bloatware. Some of us also want to send picture messages. Many of these simple functions apple refuses to provide, so if someone else offers it to me I will gladly take it. I'm not interested in gimmicks such as multi touch technology, they cannot mask the lack of functionality the iphone has. 2 mp camera? that is tech from 2/3 years ago. No picture messaging? are we still in the 1990s? The similarities between the two phones are purely aesthetic. Also if you had cared to do any research you will see that meizu will be using quality software/hardware components on this device. (Samsung flash memeory, ARM processor, Win CE 6.0 etc) It will even made of a different material (magnesium alloy) to the iphone, it will have a higher resolution screen, it will have a 3.2 mp camera, it will have support for xvid, divx, ogg, flac, ape codecs, It will run the newest version of Windows CE (6.0). It will support 3rd party apps, it will have TV out, Line in, will be unlocked and many other functions the scrooges at apple will never offer the consumer. Plus the fact it will be affordable and not a rip off like the iphone. If you want to use an iphone fine go ahead, no one is stopping you, but remember you paid over the odds for a 'pretty' device with very limited functionality. All the iphone has is an easy to use interface and good hardware/software integration. Nothing new, no original functions. Apple didn't even invent multitouch. The bottom line is it will not do 1/2 of what the meizu m8 will be capable of. Thousands of people on this site and thousands of external internet reviews will vouch for the fact meizu has proved itself to make quality devices (m6, m3) and that they use quality componenets. Every company has glitches in their firmwares but in time these will be ironed out too. Meizu is also reported to have engineers from Microsoft, Samsung and other companies working on the M8. Now go away play with your iphone and perhaps do some backgorund research next time you want to waste your time cricising things you have no knowledge about, then someone might actually take you seriously. Alternatively just don't bother posting, I think that would be more beneficial for both of us. bye
