Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI have to say it looks very 'iPhone-ish'. Despite that, yes, it does look cool and I would really consider the miniOne when its out.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI have always defended Meizu but this is just one step too far. With the M6 they had a fairly unique product. The M8 (and M7 for that matter) are nothing more than straight copies of other products, even down to the UI, as we can now see.
It's a shame because Meizu could have carved themselves a nice niche for their small and great auio quality products. Yet now, they will be known as just one rip-off merchant. It just shows you how a company can start with a great idea and then mess it up royally.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIf it IS a copy, then it is more then just a copy. I dont see the m8 as a simple copy of another product, i see it as an improved copy of another product.
That's the reason i'll buy it
BTW - i thought that Chinese consisted out of more than thousends of letters?
Are these screens the english version? are they using normal querty??Last edited by DusL; 09-21-2007 at 01:31 PM. Reason: extra remark

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsim sorry but the IPhone and now the M8 are nothing but a PDA (personal digital assistants) with phone capabilities - i do not see why all this fuss over these devices is!!!
i had a O2 XDAII pda phone for about 3 years, it already had camera, phone, media player, movies etc.. etc... on it, i got rid of the thing because it was so big and bulky - a right royal pain in the bum- not to mention the fact that windows kept on crashing all the time!!! (good luck meizu).
Apple, once again, did not invent the concept of the IPhone its been around for years, the same way they did not invent digital music players, but all credit to the apple guys, they know how to profit from other peoples ideas - its all about spin and marketing - and apple are the pros at this
so WHY would any of you want to get a hulking great brick of a phone to carry around -i do not understand - explain it to me someone, whats the facination with the M8 - is it only the fact that you will be sticking it to apple - or is it that you really want an apple IPhone but cant afford one!! so you get the next best thing

meizu has clearly copied the apple GUI, which is a shame, yet I am still looking to invest in an m8. I'm intregued by meizu's audacity and the controversy of it. Just the fact that they have the front to try and pull this off, something which is no easy feat for such a small company. Its almost like david and goliath. hahaha. Meizu are the great pretenders. Lets not forget many tech companies in japan during the 80's grew to what they are today by copying others products. I may even buy an iphone as well but I feel meizu is making history by trying to improve on one of the most hyped products ever rather than just making a straight clone. Obviously I would like to see meizu grow into it's own and produce products that are even more original than the m6, but they must imitate to learn the skills and only then can they start to engineer their own originality. The m7 for me is another issue as they are not doing anything really to improve models such as the sumsung p2 and the ipod touch which were clearly their inspiration.

Additional reasons to buy the m8 for me are Xvid decoding up to 720x480 @ 30fps, support for open source and lossless audio codecs (flac etc) and increased memory (up to 16gb) and possible wifi and unrestricted sharing using bluetooth. Many companies that make pdas do not offer some of these functions.
