I can buy and unlock an iPhone for that price, and altough the m8 looks very promising, for this price I'd rather just have the real thing, quirks and all. When someone sees you talking on an iPhone, they know its an iPhone. When someone sees you talking on this they will think 'hey that looks interesting', but its not the same, improved features, functionality, ect aside.
Remember the iPhone doesn't have a removable battery and with updates, you could brick your iPhone if you attempt to unlock it.

If someone truly feels the way Unregistered said about the iPhone versus the M8, then it doesn't matter what features or how much better the M8 is. That person is after an image.

However, the image Unregistered made it out to be "'hey that looks interesting', but it's not the same..." probably isn't what people will think. They will see the similarities, but also notice that it is different. People tend to be impressed with visual differences as long as they don't affect performance negatively. In other words... as long as the M8 can perform similarly, the difference in design and flare will be a positive factor since it will be unique and different. Everyone else with an iPhone will have the same device.

The real issues will be with getting the 3rd party development we will see for the iPhone. Will we see the docks, the attachments, the car accessories, etc that truly make the iPhone what it is in terms of functionality? One of the things that I see is a great benefit to Apple's players and phone is that the docking port has audio, firewire, serial, and USB connections all rolled into one. Yes, the connector itself is proprietary, but the actual protocols used over the dock and hardware behind it are not. That gives it tons of opportunity for 3rd party devices, in turn boosting its popularity.

The Meizu players up until now do have a USB connection, but does that USB connection support all the functionality of the iPod dock? If so, we have not heard the specs on that or seen devices that utilize it.

What Bands Will this have?

Has anyone heard what bands this puppy will have for sure yet? I have been looking for quite some time, heard talk about quad GSM, but nothing of a CDMA band support (Trust me, if I could have GSM in our state, I think I would cry out of happiness), because all we have available is CDMA.

If not, I might just have to settle for an LG phone... *shudders*

Cool

The issue comes down to What bands will Meizu Support and at what Cost?

I for one need a CDMA phone. Nobody has given us a real phone with CDMA capabilities. The HTC / Mogul is garbage already got rid of mine and I am stuck with a 700WX Treo and till something decent arrives.
The 4gb Iphone if you can still find it was going for $269. US if you had their 30 off 300 coupon that Apple puts out
OR
$339 for the 8gb refurbed after the coupon.
Regular Price the IPhone is $400. or $370 w/coupon.
You also DO NOT need to sign up on a contract. If you want service unlock it and use it on any GSM system. You won't get the fancy scrolling e-mail though on any other provider, and it won't be bricked if you just don't update the software.
I really am interested in the Meizu especially the 16mb but it was already leaked a month ago that the Iphone in Europe for Vodaphone/Tmobile will have a 16mb 3g Iphone shortly after sales begin. If that is the case and the price points stay around where they are Meizu is Screwed!
Meizu needs to get this thing to market at a reasonable price and fast! The longer they wait the more competition is moving in and will take any hopes or advantages away quickly.
Honestly I am tired of hearing all the vaporware discussions and seeing quasi-photoshoped pictures. Give us some real info Meizu, Give us some real timeframes for release and set some real price points. Go after the CDMA market because NOBODY offers anthing good there and people will buy this in a heartbeat and their are millions of users desiring a good phone with those capabilities. Not to mention, YOU HAVE a ton of people looking at this forum and frothing at the mouths ready to buy and so far all your are doing is wasting peoples time. Give us the Goods or Get out of the Business.
People will go elsewhere and you'll be stuck with alot of worthless inventory!

There is no need to demand a quick sale of the phone. If it is not ready, I don't want so buy it. I prefer to wait and get a phone without bugs.

Cool

They have had plenty of time to work on this. As Meizu claims they have been working on this for over a year, long before the supposed Iphone was released. Thats their words not mine. The software is CE6 according to them and it's been in use for a while now. So what is the hold up?
We see screen shots, and shots of their software in use. How long does it take?
If this does not get released as they are now claiming not till spring of 2008 then they will already be behind the launch of some other notable phones.

So again, I hope they make it this Christmas Shopping season at the latest. I am ready to buy.
BUT!
If this thing is not released by April, May like they are talking my money is going elsewhere.
At $400-$500 which is the current suggested rate they are talking I can purchase something else.
The N95, Prada, and Touch HTC / w/wifi and Multiple others will be out even on CDMA by January.
My wife has an Iphone that her business switched over to instead of the Blackberry. It is a nice phone, but again only SLOW Edge netwrok Crap!
I need the CDMA with full ouput EVO or faster for my job. I travel a lot and need the speed.
Heck even Pradas, and N95 can be had for $400 or better.
I just really want Meizu to get a move on. If Apple does release the 3g 16mb at $400 come Jan/Feb what will Meizu do?
I don't need a higher mexapixel camera. I need Speed and Wifi and the ability to tether it to my lappy for service that way.
If the M8 can't do that than I don't have a need for it!
If it can't come in under $400 with it's current platform of gadgets it is not worth it.
Connectivity not cameras is what most people I deal with want.
So PLEASE MEIZU, Show Us Something! Give us a reason to keep holding on PLEASE!

Meizu has released new official photos of the M8 miniOne, a cellphone that share a lot of similarities with the upcoming, not least the touchscreen face of both phones. In case you didn’t know, Meizuhas intended to release their iPhone killer initially as an killer withou the telephony capabilities. I suppose beside features that are way dissimilar to the iPhone, miniOne can also boast of a design that has significant differences with Apple’s first mobile phone.
when is this coming out, any updated dates?

Problem is pictures look great, but where is the substance!

WE ALL WANT ONE
Meizu WHEN ARE YOU GONNA COME CLEAN?

Either Give us a date and price or risk everyone going to a competitor that can give us what we want!

Why Bet Steve?

All we keep seeing are these touched up photos.

When is this thing going to be delivered?
What freq's will this work on? (CDMA, GSM,)?????
What is the Cost?

For a Year these questions have sat with almost "ZERO" answers from Meizu.
I mean if you want to sell something how about giving out some REAL Details!
From what has been semi-addressed this thing has gone up in price by $150, to $250 per model from the original cost outlay.

So Please Prove me wrong Steve, where are the real details to answer those questions.

What do you mean by "pre model" exactly?

Who is Steve to need to or be able to prove you wrong? Prove you wrong on what? You've asked questions only...

Well you said that the M8=Vaporware. I strongly disagreed with you. Patience is a virtue. Good things come to those who wait.
