It also says there is a lesser-performance student edition to be released soon after the production of the 1st edition M8 stabilizes. They said they will control the student edition at 4GB, 1999 RMB (no word on 3/3.5 G on this version), and 3/3.5 G will be released in the 2nd phase, as Err0r said.

Wonder how that student version goes... waiting for specs! If it is expandable whilst maintaining all the main functions, it would be awesome for that price.

So I'm guessing that the M8 will work with T-Mobile, Verizon?

I'm planning on switching carriers long term and I need to keep this into consideration while I save my hard earned moola for a sweet M8.

No need to void the warranty if you send it in, its not like Apple did this to tease its customers, there are reasons for it!
Like I said, it's a lot easier with the removable battery that the M8 will have than opening an iPhone up and voiding your warranty.

Whats up with batteries... Thats the least of my worry. I do think having a user replacable battery makes a better product, and I can say that having dumped an iPod shuffle for M6 because the battery went dead.

Apple may be an excellent product, but I hate being locked into a 2 year contract, and being forced to use iTunes. I just wish and hope M8's UI is comparable to iPhone (not the style, but the user friendliness) as I want to be a proud owner of M8 and NOT an user who bought M8 for not being able to afford an iPhone.

Meizu, make me a proud customer! :-)

Battery, 2-year contract, and the price tag are problems with the iPhone. I don't think that Meizu will be able to make their GUI as good as Apple's though.

meizu beats apple in everything except the screen flipping thing and gui. As long as meizu offers the phone on verizon, it will do well. the verizon market is huge in the states and needs a better phone than the razr.

I just hope they release a non phone version. 16gb non phone, no camera version for $300 would be great.

Let's clear some things up.

Meizu is trying their very best, to change their physical appearance and GUI NOT to match that of the iPhone. See if you can guess the reason.

A lot of users on Meizu BBS loves the idea of the student edition and the pricing, and I certainly wouldn't mind the pricing either (around $300 to $400 in Aussie dollars is very low for new phones of this capability).

I think it says in the "preliminary specs" section where Err0r posted, something about the changing of portrait to landscape mode when the phone is tilted horizontally or vertically. (I would personally LOVE TO DEATH this feature, as it just looks so awesome!)

PS: I didn't say anything about Verizon, I don't even live in the US. And LBJ is mad, but gilbert arenas is better :D

I'd buy a meizu as soon as its out if it'll have a nice interface, like GUI effects using wpf or 3d animations.
And also if it'll have an uber mp3 player (like foobar2000 on windows) which will have leet features like replay-gain support, gap-less playback, cue file support, full album art support, display synchronized lyrics stored in tags....... etc
