This is totally wrong. You can only buy iPhones from Apple with an AT&T contract. http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL.../family/iphone These 2 years contracts start at 60$/month. (in two years with the cheapest contract and no extra minutes and text messages: 1400$. With the most expensive contract (100$/month) that will be 2400$)
You have to pay with your credit card/debit card. Cash is NOT allowed any more. You can only buy two iPhones (last week: 5).
Hacked iPhones are spotted on eBay for 700-1000$
Apple doesn't and won't sell their iPhones without an AT&T contract in the US. Basically in every country you can only buy an iPhone with an 2 year contract. There is one exeption: France. Apple HAS to sell their iPhones without a contract there (besides their offer with a contract). The price is not known yet, but it is said to be over 1000 (equals 1440$ --- oh, that's exactly the amount of money you would have to pay in the US for your mobile phone contract)
I hate it when people say "the phone costs you so much" and throw out the 1400 dollar price. Yes it is 60 dollars a month, but don't you have a cell phone right now? That is already 40 bucks a month without internet! So really your increase in cost is less than 500 bucks over 2 years as you are already paying almost 1000!
The iPhone is an amazing device, the biggest problem is choosing ATT as their service sucks and the slow internet on the machine makes surfing the internet when not in a wifi zone slooooowwwww...
Does this have additional languages besides Chinese. Im considering buying the iPhone because I know it, but if the M8 has English language support, then I may change my mind. I also hope it's SIM free (unlocked), thin, stylish, and cheaper than the iPhone. The new design will surely prevent people saying "It's that an iPhone?". But even if it did come out, how would I buy it (I live in the US).
This is supposed to be available in the 4th quarter of 2007 right? Well it should be anytime now... Any official launch date set? Still expected this year? I love this phone! And I see the "no cell phone version in the US" thread is closed so that means that was just a rumour right? All versions will have cell coverage correct?

sorry to disappoint you buddy, but the prototype will see the lite of day earliest on CES in January next year. If we are lucky, we should be able to buy one in March/April next year. If your service provider uses SIM cards, you should be able to use it. If not (like I think Verizon) then you can just forget it.

Yeah I figured pre-2008 was a longshot, I just hadnt seen any updates anywhere on this for when. The few places I found updated in the last month or so still say Q4 of 2007, so I thought there might be some hope!
I love my windows phone, and there is no way I will ever give apple my money, but I do like their design for the iphone, so this is a win-win for me if it ever comes out! Maybe I will just pick up a cheap phone in the mean time.

In fact, I have breaking news myself. I will be able to post new prototype images soon. Showing the never seen model, sporting yet another little lens. Reliable sources, as those of Mr. Wing (Mr. Wong's second assistant) has posted somewhere, claim this new lens to be a projector lens for a 3'x5' screen projection on any surface...

- first point: true, but wifi can be a dealbreaker for some people who wants to use the internet on their cellphone without an extra data plan... and when wifi is not around you can still use hsdpa. it's all about the money
- second point: i assume that the phone saves the video on the memory card not the internal memory... i only said internal memory is slow.
anyway why do you care about the M8? be happy with the Viewty (if you have one)

I've been avoiding buying myself the SonyEricsson K850i ( after a lifetime of SE "Cybershot" phones), i've been loving the Meizu project..
And i've been writing here several times. i've been following this forum,
and whatever news Err0r thought fit to give us.
Since the iPhone came out, i've watched the market explode,
even due to Chinese companies creating knockoffs at a speed
no western industry could.
I'm speaking about the Desay and CECT clones, notably the Desay M888;
wich are cheap knockoffs indeed, but took 1/10 of the time
Meizu is taking.
