Something big is about to happen

Meizu M8 firmware 1.0 will be released in a few hours. I hope you are excited.

Jack has stated that compatibility with Windows Mobile apps will come soon. The work is being done by Microsoft, without involvement of Meizu.

Update: For whatever reason, the version number has changed. It will be 0.9.6.9 and not 1.0. However, it will still be the first official firmware with the new UI.

Update 2: For the sake of extra suspense, Meizu released the firmware at midnight Chinese time. People were beginning to doubt whether or not it would come today. Kudos to the engineers working overtime! Changelog and download links can be found here: Meizu M8 Firmware 0.9.6.9 (Official w/ New UI)

I think this whole WinMo thing is a misunderstanding and some people took it granted 1.0 would support those apps. I don't remember JW promising that...he only said Microsoft is working on it, but he didn't say when we would see the fruits of that.

"Meizu CEO Jack Wong said on the weekend that the new 1.0 firmware for the M8 M8 smartphone, is being developed with the help of Microsoft that will give the device the ability to run Windows Mobile apps. At the same time, Wong revealed that upcoming M8 phones will switch to a new, more durable PET touchscreen, though it is still undergoing testing."

    1. The new firmware (1.0) will allow you to run Windows Mobile apps. The work is being done by Microsoft, not Meizu.
How could that mean anything other than it will support it?

Oh, can't wait for it! Y'all deserve a smoothly running firmware, so I hope the next release will be satisfactory for you!

...and to think that my M8 has the touchscreen problem again and I have to send it back...:-(

EDIT: oh yes, nice picture! Everyday when I came to meizume.com I was waiting for a post like this saying that FW1.0 has finally arrived! :-)

Well, I do not know how Meizu handles this, but I don't think there are specific rules as to what number you have to choose. In fact, they could also have named an earlier official FW (.9.2.7. for example) number 1.0, and then every upgrade would be 1.1 or even 2.0, this does not really matter.
